Got it clean for free anyway...

15minutes - KMSC in Sydney... (they know I need my camera everyday). Otherwise its 2 days turn around.

15 minutes is fast......Just wondering have you ever do a "dust on sensor check" before and after the service to see how well they clean the sensor ?

Lens tissue is not recommended for sensor cleaning. Pec-pads ($15) + eclipse solution ($18) is a cheap option. Can get from CP.

This website, (posted before) is good source for sensor cleaning. http://www.pbase.com/copperhill/ccd_cleaning

Don't have to buy it's "Sensor Swipe" product. Use either a DIY plastic strip or hard card.

is there anything special about the sensor swipes and are they less abrasive than lens tissues? or is it because of fibre residue?

Hart -- I wrapped a strip of lens tissue across the fold of the card strip (perpendicularly). Then I secured the tissue on the INSIDE fold of the card with scotch-tape, and then folded the card. That gave me a very firm swab. I guess the only thing is the choice of fabric/ material to actually clean the sensor with??

Pec-pads, sensor-swab and eclipse are made by "Photographic Solutions". http://www.photosol.com/products.htm

Sensor-swab is so much more expensive and is the recommended material for cleaning sensor. Pec-pads is the second cheapest option and is widely used to clean optical and sensitive surface. It is softer than lens tissue and no fibre residue.
