I managed to spot a 2-storey movable ladder. Climbed atop and had a nice change in perspective - until the owner asked me to get off.

#79 - Red, White and You
(Little India Photoshoot with CS Members on 6th Oct - Restricted to 50mm focal length)
When I saw the tiled veritcal Red and White stripes, I knew it'd be a great backdrop. Problem was, given the focal length, I pretty much had to stand on the road to get a good close-up. I hung on to the kerb as much as I could, pre-focussed, and waited for the right subject.

This man really looked very lonely and quite lost. There was just an aura of resignation about him. I couldn't capture what I exactly felt at that moment. Wish I could have, though.

Given that I was participating in a 50mm challenge, I wanted to make sure I had a shot where I was absolutely up close to a subject. And the opportunity came at this road junction. Snapped this at less than 1m away from the subject.

Given that the caged parrot was right next to him, I figured that he was a fortune teller. Wouldn't it be a hoot if he were actually reading the horoscopes in the paper? We will never know, will we?

Practically the last shot of the day and one that I really like. Saw this lady just when I was crossing over to return to the rest of the group. She was positioned perfectly. It was literally, run and gun from the hip. Glad it came out alright.

The solar powered iphone shot is beautifully compelling. I think you could enter it into a street photo competition if there were to be any.
The striped background vs checked/striped shirt uncle is also very nice. Simple colors, simple form, so just the patterns talking. Very well composed in terms of elements of art.

Thanks Shizuma! Glad the photos struck a chord with ya! And yeah. It feels good to be able to go out and shoot the street. Going with some like-minded ppl makes it more fun!
And given that the busy part of the year is almost over, I am gonna be hitting the streets a lot more!

Good composition you have there. Especially when the lady is looking straight into the camera, it is striking. And i would never dare snap a photo of someone staring back at me! Nice shot there!

Yeah. Thanks man. I could see his desolation. The kind that creeps into your facial expression when you are lost in thought. I tried to capture it and process it as closely to my interpretation as I could.
Glad it worked for you mate. Would love to see how you'd present it in your classic BnW style, man. I'm sure it'd be killer.
