Sometimes alone, Sometimes with one or two friends.

Some taken in Singapore, some taken in Indonesia.

And no, no danger at all. All are my friends. Some new, some I know for a while already. ;) And they are really very nice people. No need to be afraid. Sometimes I just sit down and talk to them about life. Sometimes they ask me to eat with them, or have a drink with them.

Sharing a quote from a street photographer and artist I have tremendous respect for:

尊严...人的尊严、族群的尊严、文化的尊严、土地的尊严、生活的尊严。

如果不了解这一点,只习惯以上对下的方式来拍摄;,那街头摄影无法捕捉那重重的心结.....

你必须要在现场,接近人.是他的一部分,你是一个参与者,不是一个遥远的偷窥者!

倘若拍摄是讲一个故事,只能够是你自己的生活的故事

English translation from another street photographer I have huge respect for:

diginity... oneself's diginity, one group's diginity, a culture's diginity, a countrie's diginity, a life's diginity...

if you do not understand this... and do not respect the diginity of others... then you might not be able to capture the moment of truth/respect/love... etc...

You need to go onto the streets.... get close to the subject and be part of his/her life.... you are a participant and not a peeping tom in their life...

remember... you are telling a story... and you are not writing their story but your own........

My New Friend.

Still trying to learn this but every time I am out with intention to take human pics, my hands will automatically keep the standard and mount the tele....just like routine. Haiz I really need to brush up on what you quoted.

By the way, absolutely loved this picture. Did you ask him to go stand under the light or he was already there when you saw him?

Thank you sir. You can try this one time - just bring a camera body and a UWA. If you have no choice, will you move closer?

Btw, the quotes above relates more to the how we relate to the people we photograph, more than how close we get to them physically.

He was friends with the group of friends in #43. I just asked him to pose for me... The light was from us...
