I am new to street photography also, read before that it is advisable to use unobtrusive cam ti capture.
Which gear are you using?

I use both a DSLR and mirrorless camera. I prefer a mirrorless one as it is more discrete. Previously, I used a Nikon 1 V1. But now I am using an Olympus OM-D EM-5. Like both of them. However, the Oly has a touch screen shutter release which works wonders for street photography.
