I think May 7th is an excellent shooting opportunity....

a couple of questions:

* Is picture taking allowed outside the polling station ?

* Is picture taking allowed inside the polling station ?

* Can I take pictures of the ballot box ?

Hmmm....

I tried shooting street at rally...

my advice is: dun bother. its so damn crowded, u cannot shoot anything at ground level. worse hor...RF might get damaged or stolen

too crowded.... unless you get beyond the fence and capture the shoots of the people infront .... if not you end up shooting at the back....side ?

Took this after they put the banner of the candidates up... just my view on how things are...

edit CJ > I know I'm being really anal here, but the line has to be drawn somewhere. the forum doesn't allow threads on politics and religion, etc. even inferences will be taken off as it can easy stir emotions into a larger issue. thank you.

er I dun think hor that the rules forbid ANY politics. As long as it is related to Rangefinder, it should be ok tio bo?

I thought the prohibition against politics content applied only to Kopitiam section.

see red below. extract from terms of service. for your consideration pls.

3. Off-Topic (OT) posts - Please direct all posts not related to Photography to the Kopitiam forum. OT posts will be deleted or moved without noticed if posted in any other forums.

* NOTE: Although Kopitiam is meant as a catch-all area for things not related to photography, posts/threads which are:
1. religious,
2. political,
3. racist;
in nature or can be construed as such will also be deleted/removed without prejudice.

Ans: bo, not nec. and no.

I'm not going to read legal writings with you, but let me just say that **** can be stirred in many ways, sometimes deliberately, others inadvertently... and this is true in all parts of the world, not just the local coffee shop.

I deleted a photo as I felt that it had could had led to further political commentary. I have sent a pm to cser, and I can carry on offline with him on that. but the discussion on opportunities to do "street" photography during this ge is still open for sharing and discussion.

so yes, you can talk all the rangefinders and compacts equipment you want here, but know that there are still boundaries.

again, my offer to clarify this with you over pm, or over coffee again applies.

okok.... i get it! I thought it was really subtle... anyway, no prob there, no hard feelings

Please post the link to your pictures here, I still want to see your inspirational works!

There is no political agenda in any photos, it's just the interpretation by the viewer....

agree. as I explained to newghost, it was not the photo in itself... as you pointed out, its about interpretation. the context of the attached write-up and thread, the whole "statement" could have led to further political commentry. don't come back with the free speech, individual interpretation arguments... there are some boundaries.

within those boundaries, you can share photos, talk about equipment or arrange outings. if you want to talk c**k, there is also space catered for that in the forum.

bottomline, even if it were linked, given the same context, i would delete it.

chiif - same offer to some of the other csers, pm or coffee if you require further explanation.

i'll repost it under share your RF shots... it will pass off as just another typical street shot without any political agenda i guess

if there are no further comments / questions on this thread, i shall close it.

there is already another thread sharing RF GE photos. so do continue sharing your RF photos there.

cheers ;)
