Strange results

Hi all,
I have just developed my roll and it turned out pretty strange.
I used Shanghai GP3 film, pre-washed 1 minutes ( and had a deep blue color), then 6 mins with Ilfosol 3 (1:5)

I bought this roll from another clubsnapper, claimed to have this refrigerated and not expired ( I checked and it's 'till 2015).
Can anyone help me explain this ? I suspect it's the China-made film.
Thanks in advance.

HH, this is the same results i got from GP3. One or two batches of film spoilt my
entire experience with GP3. FYI, I used rodinal.

Shanghai 120 film has inconsistent quality. I have used about 10 rolls before with quite a few rolls having the same issue. Somehow the dots from the backing paper managed to be imprinted on to the emulsion as seen very obviously in your first photo.

This has been a prevailing problem for the shanghai GP 3 film regardless of its storage condition. You can either live with it or change to another film. I did the latter.

Had the same results with this China-made film, threw the whole bunch away in frustration. Just like lens, dont "cheap-out" on film.

Hey but the shanghai sheet film I have used were very nice with no issues at all. In fact I have grown to like them a lot. Guess this happens to 120 format only?

For 4X5, when you do initial soak, there is a blue layer dissolved into the water. 120, none.

For 4X5, the film base is decent, 120 is super thin and curl.

For 4X5, the development consistency is good (from Issac Chen), 120 can be nightmare.

I given up GP3. China they call it 狗屁3 for a good reason.

yes, i believe this happens to the 120 format only. the 4x5 does not have any backing paper to 'taint' the film.

Nikkornos, the 120 version does have a blue anti-halation layer that comes out during the pre-wash, but I am not too sure if that is the cause of the defect. It seems that the general consensus here is that stay away from the 120, but 4x5 works great.

My one batch from China (bought in Shanghai) did not have the blue anti-halation layer. I wonder why.
Anyway, I still have about 20 rolls. Just mug around for lomo lor. ha ha.

Hey, the shanghai 45 does have paper in between each sheet. It's the only sheet film I have used which is packed like that. But still it does not affect the emulsion. But I have comment that the shanghai sheet film does have a slightly sticky feel compared to your kodaks and ilfords.

The batch 2013 Emulsion number 5157 : is defective.
It is in tin foil sleeve. Bought from Hong Kong.

All have the strange results shown. I did an experiment and confirm even if loaded in darkness, still get the strange result.
Very odd.

I am checking with Issac Chen in Taiwan if he sees this strange things.
