Stormy Night (Noobie)

Hi, new to Clubsnap. Am just a casual hobbyist to photography, always have been. I bought the Canon EOS 550D 2 months ago, my first digital camera since my film SLR, Canon EOS 88, which is my first SLR back in the late 90s, figured I just stick to Canon. So have much to learn about the digital transition. Luckily, not totally new to Photoshop, as I'm in the IT/Multimedia field. Went out to take some night shots early last week, noticed there was lightning but luckily, just a slight drizzle, and I camped for sometime for the lightnings and got a few shots of them:

Nice:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:..
Do you mind what setup you use?

Love both image..like mayhemics said, you are a brave man.

Haha, thanks. Didn't really think about the lightning striking me. Can use Helix Bridge for shelter if anything looks really hazardous.

I used f13, 8 secs exposure for the first one, 13 secs for the 2nd one, ISO 200 for both. And oh, with the Sigma 10-20mm.

Beautiful! :) I prefer the second photo though, think the street lamp in the first photo abit distracting..

Agree with the bravery thing and prefer the second shot too:thumbsup:

nice! i've not been able to catch any lightning in action on my cam. haha.

but bro. honestly, it's not just bravery. did you know u're standing in a place full of metal rods sticking out of the ground?
the lamp posts, the protruding parts of the helix bridge and the cranes. if the lightning struck any of those close by u'd be toast!

i salute you for your courage!

amazing! It's like saying DO NOT ENTER IF YOU GOT NO MONEY territory. Hahahha

nice!!! :bigeyes: it's like Frankenstein is up there or something hehehe :thumbsup:

question, did you use Bulb mode or manually set exposure duration? :)
