huh?? no one is grateful that security is increased in the MRT stations? :dunno:

although nothing is 100% foolproof, having an extra pair of eyes to look out for suspicious behaviour is definitely a positive step.

 to our "storm troopers"...

aiyah. us being grateful is one thing. being practical is another thing. no point doing something not exactly very useful right? :nono:

extra security always come with added inconvenience. just look at the lengthier airport check-in process. :what:

Well.... no smoke without the fire!

Elsewhere, solution are created to solve problem... but here, we INVENT solution to create problem.

well, as long as the inconvenience  dun go overboard :thumbsd: ....hmmm...then i suppose its ok. like i said, good intentions  with not exactly very practical approach.... i believe there can be other solutions to it. probably like CONSULTING us, the public, FIRST, before making any decisions which can affect us, the public itself...

I'm fine about the whole shitty process of screening your "suspicious" belongings.. just dun cause me to be late for appointments and assignments.. I can be menacing

mebbe the powers-that-be felt that the threat was credible and imminent? not much reaction or consultation time then.

I would just love to see them try.... and the expression on their faces when I tell them "NO! Get out of my face!" ;p

But then again, all this cost money.. and if the public were to be consulted, how many would actually want security guards to check your bags every now and then?

ok, maybe there are ppl who wants... haha..

But i guess zaren is right lar.. there was probably too little time to make that decision..

Well, it's all for the better anyway. :)

perhaps when they stroll over, notice the bag you are carrying and demanded a look-see, you just tell them it's a bomb and that if you unzip the compartment, it's rigged to blow. If you remove it from your side, it will blow. If you managed to remove it from your body, it will blow once it's out of its 10m range. Then you smile and ask: "so, what will you do?"

*forgive me, I'm in a terribly crappy mood tonight*

It's called divide & conquer... Old strategy, buy works well still.
as long as a majority of people don't complain about something, they're safe.

But if the total minorities hit above 50%, then the next election will be more happening already... But then again... Not so possible...

We the engineers of the SAF.. blah blah blah.. haha
anyway aya u know how the govt or the army works... wayang all the way.. but this wayanging works... it DETERS pple from doing stupid things...it DESTRACT potential idiots and it DESTROY any stupid ideas that might harbour in any of those sucide bombers...

but again.. tricky ar.. .privacy issue if i dun want to show them wads inside my bad....

they can probably install metal detectors in the gantry gates lor, if they really want to do up the security....

practical  + efficient + no invasion of privacy + no idiots staring at you  = no problem...

Sure.. metal detectors... great idea... ;p and who would man the metal detectors? A WTMD (Walk Through Metal Detector) require 2 person to properly operate it.

So if you have only one gantry, imagine the long Q and if you have multiple gantries, then you would need to multiply it by 2 for every gantry in place. That would mean ~alot~ more manpower.

Seriously, lame or not, everyone can scoff and roll their eyes when it comes to being "inconvenienced" but one day, if an attack does happen, i can bet you someone would actually pip up and ask, why wasn't there guards deployed to randomly do spot checks?

It's all fine and dandy when everything is safe and nothing goes wrong. Everyone starts thinking how "inconvenient" it is to be checked or not have dusbins but once something does happen, these would be the same vocal group that jumps up and down, asking why wan't anything done in the first place to prevent the occurance of such an incident...

Lets face it, there will not be a perfect plan or one that would please everyone...

Now, come to think about this? What do they wanna achieve really? Try to think if you are a terrorist or suicide bomber... you travel by MRT?

Now, if you do, your mind is already been brainwashed and if you see an approaching guard, what with you do next? You will detonate whatever explosive you have on you... you don't think an expert to tell you this.
