Well again, I might consider getting a DSLR in the next year or so for my wedding assignments. Most couples prefer digital to film nowadays and I've actually lost quite a fair bit of deals bcos of this reason. :(

1 I think that for such work, you should adopt digital, especially in a techno/newthing crazed place like Singapore.

2 But let me relate a story to you,and see if still might have your cake and eat it!

There was this wedding photographer (can't remember his name) who offered his services to use film or digital. And he made it clear that film will cost more and take longer time.

Then he showed his clients wedding images taken on film and taken digitally, and asked his clients to chose. Interestingly about half his clients prefered to have their weddings recorded in film.

Hi,
For eg, Provia 100 costs $8.90 now. With the processing and film, the package price is $11.90. Can't remember figures for other slide film cos I'm a provia user anyway.

May I know which Fotohub is that? Is the one at Raffles place selling it? I was thinking of asking a friend of mine to buy me 10 rolls and courier to me (to Australia). I checked with Singpost and regular air courier is only $3.10 which is quite attractive.

How does prepaid processing work? How do they know that the exposed roll is the one you bought from them?

If it works out, I might as well buy the $11.90 roll, and when I have finished, I send it back to Singapore for processing. It's a lot of trouble but it is worth it considering a roll of Provia is AUD $22.50 and processing is AUD $11.20 where I live! Daylight robbery!

Thanks
Matthew

   Still prefer film camera although I own canon 10D and Casio P700
I am using canon1v, 1n, LeicaR6.2, R8 x 2 , Minox M.D.C , TLR roillefex.
I print my film neg to 2ox20 inch size the color and sharpness very solid.

Thanks. My friend works at Raffles place, so that will be very convenient for him indeed ;-)

May I know how do they distinguish between the films that had prepaid process? Or is there like a coupon system (like the Starbucks loyalty card)?

No, not really. I just asked my friend to check with Raffles Place, they don't carry the films. They asked him to check with Beach Rd. I have sent them an email earlier and was told by my friend that they will be forwarding my email to Beach Rd too. Seems like they are not much into films?

Well, I actually like 1.6x factor because I like long side of lens more than wide. Often 70-210 is my standard lens in Minolta mount. However, 24-120 stays in my Fuji S2 Pro.

I thought I would never stop using film, but since I got my S2Pro (got 7D for my wife since we are minolta fan). I am still waiting for 9D, like that heavy weather proof thingy. I don't care arout whether fullframe wor 1.6x. I would happy if it was 1.6x actually.

On the other hand, photography is strickly hobby so it is not that critical to me to have big sensor. 1.6x saves me money on lens.
