Don't bother getting a new kit lens. People frequently clear their spanking new 18-55s from their 350d on BnS for around $70 or less. No sense paying 100+ for a new kit lens.

A good lens on a cheap body gives you MUCH better photos than a crap lens on a good body..
There must be something I'm missing somewhere.

The lit lens loses alot on sharpness and saturation wide open. It is also very slow and does not have a constant aperature. If you want to start i'd suggest spenndign that $100 + on a 50/1.8 instead.

a consumer lens depreciate more than a professional lens.
That's what most people did not consider.

I agree with you ..... technically, a Canon 10D is already considered a good DSLR, though due to market behaviour, it is considered a cheap or obsolate body ....:think:
