As for the picture,
1. The empty picture actually can be something conceptual art, can be something bull sh*t.
2. The second one, actually I already hate that ads ( stereobox knows it as well ) Frankly speaking not many stuff we agree about however I never thot u gonna take picture of that :sweat: speaking about bad ads, yesterday I saw this stupid brochure someone trying to sell a furniture and layout it in stupid butterfly shape ( excuse me, what's the connection? ) I will put it as "Trying to create brand identity but end up giving bad identity." Miscommunication, too much noise ( hint *readthepdfisendyouaboutcommunicationmoduleandthiswillmakesomesense * hint )

if i come across an ad/campaign i don't like, i don't necessarily 'hate' it la. i took a pic of the poster cos i 'see' the humor in it. the 'artist' who drew in the moustache may just be doing for the heck of it, but i really find it funny, especially when u take in the copywriting in context as well.

my "portrait of light" can be "conceptual" (if i bother to think of the concept properly before the execution) but the "watch this space" is really...intended just for the purpose of putting something there before 12midnight.

ziedrich had a really interesting analysis/intepretation to share with us too. thanks ziedrich but i'm afraid it's really nothing more.

azhou, although we may not like all the stuff each other like (eg. u dnt understand the music of Stereolab, u dnt like watchinh films set in war-context. i dont really listen to the bands u like), it doesnt necessarily mean we disagree. in fact, each time we talk to each other more, don't u find it refreshing? we present thoughts that the other didn't bother to consider before.
though its not entirely wrong to put it in such a way "we disagree on the things we like".

but to elaborate further, my reaction (in that particular instance u referred to) was more like "hmm,the editors can accept this 'kind' of pictures ah" , rather than a genuine distaste for the picture. (although seriously, it's obviously very badly-taken)

I mean, seirously film art is something interesting, knowledg about war history as well, so do late modern - early pomo music, which all i dont really bother to look at as you said it.

I guess as well as few photographer feel "euh..." about "badly-taken" "cheap-service-sometimes-even-free-discounted-service" and the present of those kind of guy who thot that having a big big camera make a good 'photographer', I also have my own sentiment on few design issue. Something like when people thot that being able to use photoshop make a good "graphic designer" or download template and load it on your dreamweaver after that call yourself "freelance webdesigner" - i just find it "Euh?"

It's not that i'm afraid to compete with those kind of people ( or am i one of those?

Actually when we started this thread I already realised somehow we will go personal. Anyway, photography is about personality isnt it? And talking about photography, you are the first one who show me the beauty of painting with light.

i totally understand what you are talking about.

just like how i get disappointed when people say photography is easy,snap snap with camera on tripod and a few lights..when people think of photo assistants as only good for carry lights and buy coffee..when people think of photographers as people who shoot ard with models. there ARE people who give that kind of perception to others.

just like how my friend decided to quit from his 'multimedia' designer job and go into research ,because the market here simply don't want to explore the essence of what 'multimedia/interactive media design' is.

The issue here is different people has different measurement on what is professionalism.

Talking about research, I feel like 99% quit from school and my fam like 99% want the other way around. mmmm lemme see who more stubborn. But seriously, i'm not happy now and I dont want to pretend to be happy anymore if i'm not.

Remember the time when I said about you as light? Maybe one day it will make sense, but got connection with this and the issue of me stop painting.

Seriously my thinking last time is photog mostly buaya want to jiao the pretty gals lol :sweat: I begin to appreciate it when I see how you treat photography.
