Star trail in Singapore

So I have seen so many splendid pictures of star trail, of course else where in the world. One day I looked at my gear, a Nikon D3200 with the kit lens which is the widest lens I had in hand, i decided to try explore the world of star trail photography. After a few attempts, I can conclude, the cloudy sky is a killer for star trails. I cant shoot for more than 45 mins most of the time because the damn cloud flies by and cover everything. It results in the short trails of star movement. Anyway, a beginner with basic gear like me can satisfy with what i got so far. Hopefully i can improve my skill then.

thanks for sharing.

the compression is really high,
try lower the compression ratio.

Great attempt. I've been wanting to take such photos. Can u share the settings you used for the 2 photos? What time were these taken?

I followed the setting recommended by Lincoln Harrison, it was f3.5 at 18mm, iso 100, 40 exposures X 25 secs each. :) it was taken at around 8:30 PM

Tonight, the sky suddenly became so clear after almost 2 weeks of cloudy condition. Wished I have been at the beach so that I could avoid all the artificial light, although it was a full moon night, my camera was still be able somehow to capture the star trails :D, the strong light near the coconut trunk was the moon.

Thank you :D the pity is that my lens is not wide enough and i was hungry so i gave up after 1 and a half hours. If the weather is still in this condition, I am going to some dark place and try my luck again :D

just downsize your photos,
it is always not a good idea to share such large size photos online,
other than wasting bandwidth, it is also let others (unknown strangers) to have free access to your high resolution photos.

recommended to keep your images within 1200 pixel on the longer size, since not all people have HD monitors and many people surfing the net with mobile devices.
