hi soulfly, although this is my first reply in this thread, i have been a fan of this collection of your minimalistic photos ever since i bookmarked this thread few months back. The pictures are breath-taking and rather unique because it provides a sense of surreality.
I have been wondering how many stops of light do you need to cut down in order to achieve such long shutter speeds. Taking for example the recent tree upload, what time of the day did you capture that shot and how many stops in total was cut down?

thank you SMRT for visiting and glad u like it. Also for your support.
Been using NDx400 filter for most of the work and its reduce 9fstops of light. And at times, I will couple it with ND4 and CPL to obtain additional 4 fstops; total 13 fstops. Thus, my shutter speed easily goes beyond 100sec.
With the ND, I can work during daytime; morning, afternoon or later afternoon before the dusk and dawn where light is still permitable for ND usage.
As for the tree work, it was done at around 1 ~ 3pm. Light is strong and I need to stack all 3 filters together to achieve longer exposure.
Thus, tripod, shutter release is an essential when deals with LE...
