Something which all here in CS may want to consider for future consideration,
request for the copyrights for specific marketing usages like only for this season's leftlet for one print run of 50,000 copies, since there is sponsorship, the sponsor should get something back in return. After that, if the images are really so good that the sponsor want to use it for some other commercial purpose, renego the terms for the usage, it will still save a large part of the cost ( I do understand the need for a business to save cost whenever possible ).
This can be stated at the start, ie:
In view of the sponsorship of Tan Ah Kow Pte Ltd, the models and photographers will allow Tan Ah Kow Pte Ltdto use the images for XXXX purpose. Tan Ah Kow Pte Ltdwill reserves the first right to purchase the copyrights the the images for any other purpose at the cost of $XXXX for the images which is used. First rights can be requested either by the photographer or the sponsor.
This can be a platform to base future offer to photographers here.
What do you guys think?
I agree with what yqt has proposed. This can be done by providing rights to a fixed amount of uses to the images, and then pay a flat rate in regards to the different media. If there's nothing in return for the sponsor, why would the company sponsor products in the first place?
OK, since I'm the one who propose this and if closetlingerie is OK with it, I'll back it up by letting you guys use my studio subjected to further discusstion, avability of my studio and how closetlingerie is going to run this shoot.
For a start, I would suggest:
#1) copyrights for sponsor for a fix purpose/time/media.
#2) copyrights for further usages to be agreeded before the shoot.
#3) cost to be made known to all in the project.
#4) photographer retains full copyrights to the images but will not use it for any other commercial purpose till the end of the first ( #1 ) agreedment.
5) rights release to be signed for all in the project.
Closetlingerie, please get in touch with me if you're interested and we can discuss how we can do this.
To CSers here:
I'm not doing this for profit nor for any gain.
I'm doing this as I feel that too many people have come into CS looking for cheap photographers to exploid.
Many a times we've complain about it but not much suggestions have been offered nor tested to try to slove this problem. Rather than just sit back, complain and hope that things will improve on it's own, I'll give it a try to see if we can come up with something to improve the suituation. I'm not saying that this suggestion of my is the best or it will work, and I'm not sure how this will work out ( it may be doom right from the start ) but I do hope that this can serves as a starting point.
Cheers
