Hi all
The VR motor in my 18-200 lens is spoilt and Nikon is quoting me about 360 (include GST) to fix it. Can anyone recommend me a cheaper way? Please dun tell me to not use VR...![]()
I'll have to agree that this pow ka leow lens is not robust. I'm not a photo a day photographer and rarely use the lens and the swm went kaput exactly one month after the warranty period.
I've changed the SWM at NSC and it cost $246.10 with GST with 6 months warranty.
Dunno leh. That time I was handling a shoot with Batam, lazy bring all my heavy cameras and big lenses, also didn't feel very safe bringing them to Batam so I tarpow a D80+18-200VR+SB-800.
The combo functioned without flaw despite the splashing from saltwater etc, and do take note that the D80 and the 18-200 are both NOT weatherproofed.
After come back SG, everything still functioned fine. I lucky or you all unlucky? :dunno:
yes, i think now adays the quality of af lens not as good as manual lens
my sister passed on 2 old lens to me; the 24mm ai f2.8 and 300mm f4.5 ai ed;
still rocking... has seen no service
this new tech stuff.... more gadgets, more parts, more trouble, more $ out
More like you didn't keep the lens in a dry cabinet.. ;p
Well....... unless people put the humidity lvl at 10% I don't see any reason why a dry cabi will cause any problems ;p
There were a couple of lenses which the SWM gave problem after storing in humidity under 40% for a week or two. The 18-200VR is one of them. I keep my dry cabinet humidity between 45% and 50% now.
haha. one of my dryboxes has the same level as you. The other is 90%-100% :bsmilie:
