Wow.... will it be cheaper to get a Raynox 250? Slightly more than 100 only, and clip on to multiple sizes easily.

Its your choice Bro , get used to what you have got & you will get good photos after all . I chose to get 2 pieces Achromats because ... Thanks to Bro Exelglsi then .

Or maybe if you have a choice , borrow both to have a try on your own . Then you decide which to get , or get both !:bsmilie:

Amazing macro series! Learn more about filter here.

btw, may I ask how close the camera have to be from the subject?

Thanks.

If you chose to use these filters , regardless of Raynox or the Achromats , its around 10cm away from the object . I will carry it along with me always , very good & easy to SHOOT objects that are not so active ...

able to share y u choose to get 2 Achromats? :D

In fact the focusing distance depends on the diopter power of your close-up filter. For the case of stacking 2 +5, it's like +10. This means it's like focal length of 1/10 m, -> 10cm, which will focus object at 10cm away, if your lens is focusing at infinity. The distance will be slightly shorter if your lens focusing at nearest.

If you use only 1 +5, the focusing distance will be about 20cm.

Raynox 250 is a +8. So focusing at around 12cm.

I still have problem carrying my filter always. In fact not the filter, but the whole camera set. haha!

I wanted to try whatever possible to shoot Macro , that should be why i chose Achromats . Until recently then i have heard of Raynox , but i also knew that this Raynox DOF is very thin , may not be suitable for me ... So i did not try on Raynox ...:embrass:

yannh , don't be lazy . If never leave home without a body with Macro lens most of the time . There are moments that i cannot afford to miss .

I don't think different brand of cu will cause different dof, any logic? After all the shadow dof is caused by focusing distance & focal length. Am I right?

Ya, have to learn to bring the camera more often. I know a person who bing camera including tripod wherever he goes, even to work everyday... Should I be like him....hmm...

The brand of CU filters does not affect the DOF.

2 +5 and 1 +10 dioptre gives the same DOF.

So whether its a Raynox, Nikon or Canon close up lens, with the same dioptre will give the same DOF. All these brands are usually good achromats, so the pic quality are good....not much diff between them.
