Hi everyone,

I'm totally new in videography and lately I took an interest in getting myself a camcorder. I need one that's affordable and good enuff to record as I go locations recce for my photography outings or doing simple home videos for fun.

I came across this camcorder - SPEED HD9 1080P High Definition H.264 DV Camera, at High Street Center. After reading the specification on its brochure and website, I'm still deciding if I should get it. I have not checked out the price yet.

As the file format is H.264 (MOV), will I be able to get it converted easily to other formats like MPEG4 for iPod, to 3G mobile phone, to YouTube, etc? What software is user-friendly and affordable to use for editing the video file? Is Magix Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus a good choice?

Hope experts here can guide me and give me some tips and advises. Thank you very much. :)

Hi n welcome to the video world. Just to let you know you will find it difficult to edit the video if you use the H264 format. It is highly compressed and offers very good quality to size ratio.

However it was designed to be an end CODEC, not a recording format. So if you desire to produce professional looking videos in the long run, i recommend you to look at HDV or AVCHD options. The latter is a little difficult to edit as well and proxy files may be required.

Hi engr, thanks for yr kind tips and advise. :)
