Hi all,

Ermm, it had really been years since I lost touched a film camera... and so... asking this silly question (since i forgot!).

Let say if I am unable to finish a roll of film. can i stop shooting but take out the batteries (without taking out the film), then shoot another day again after placing the batteries back?

Digitally this can be done, not sure film can or not?

Also... by taking the batteries out, will the film auto rewind/reload itself?

Sorry if this sounds silly to you cos i just want to confirm. :sweatsm:

i think wont la. but just leave it in la....

or on the other hand, go to a film photo developer shop. ask them cut the film for u, and develop that cut length. (they do inside this black pouchy thing) the rest, keep inside container (ask them rewind for u), until u wanna use again

then u can take out the battery safely :)

hmm will battery leak if kept in the camera for too long? cos i will be away for reservist for 2.5 weeks this wednesday... my camera just arrive today, thinking of doing some test shots tonight (but dun think I will finish all tonight).

2 weeks should be fine. Just be sure to turn off the battery and keep it in the dry cabinet.

Yes, you most definitely can.

I'm trying to think of a camera that won't allow you to do this ..... mmm .... nothing comes to mind.

thanks for the confirmation!

thanks to those who replied as well :D

Its not a problem to take off the batt.
On the other hand, I used to keep film in for more than 1/2 yr.
Batt won't leak off so fast either if let inside (I kept them in all the while, sometimes up to a yr)

The only thing to note on some cameras is that the metering starts to work once the sensor senses light coming in from the lens.
For these cameras, you'd need to either take out the batteries or keep the lens cap on.
These are often pretty old 70-80's cameras (eg. spotmatics; ME). The more modern ones with on/off switch are not a problem.
