Not really, the 80-200 is only f/2.8 from 80mm to 200mm

Sony's lens is f/2.0 at 38mm and f/2.4 at 190mm

So it's faster and brighter than the 200mm f/2.8

Of course, the 200mm lens on a Canon DSLR is really a 320mm due to the 1.6x multipler.

Lens quality wise, the Carl Zeiss lens is certainly a good lens to match.

There are not many cameras in the prosumer category to match the f/2.0-2.4 of the SONY's.

I can only think of the E-20 who has the same f/2.0-2.4, and I know C-5050 has a f/1.8 at the wide end but not sure what is the maximum aperture at the tele end.
