Guys, I want to get the above lens ! Is it worth it ?

BTW I have the following :-

- SAL 18200
- SAL 16F28 Fisheye
- SAL 28F28
- Tamron 90mm F2.8

Worth it or not will depend on yourself and what you will be using it for. Some people will just buy and keep so I would say that it's not worth it in this case.

Thank u Galdor! Actually I bought the Alpha 850 so thought getting this one for my most walk around lens. Your advise!

Depending on what you wnat to shoot. Personally I find the 135mm too long for walk about use cos I prefer to shoot wider. My choice would be the 24-70mm/28-70mm/28-75mm/24-105mm. Of course I will not get to have a very large aperture as compared to the 135mm. The 50mm on the A850 would be a very good choice too.

Although this lens is bulky, some said this is the best AF Zeiss prime, which create nicer bokeh, better than 85mm f1.4

For portrait shoots, the 135 is incredible. As a walkabout, not so much.

The lens you want is more for portrait shot. I dont think its that good for a walk about as it is not wide enough.

I have one that has been sitting around in my dry box. Not selling. Keeping it.
On a APS-C camera, it is a nice lens for candid shots.
On FF camera, it is neither here nor there range; i.e. too short for outdoor and too long for indoors. Someone said it is great lens that produce great images to use for indoor studio with FF body if you have the space. Much better than 85mm f/1.4.
The funny thing, I use the 85mm more for indoor and outdoor portraiture than 135mm on my A700. Maybe I should buy FF body soon....;p

Prime lens usage is really up to individual, it can be for anything if u know how to make full use of it and take advantage of post processing.
The fix focus length may need more movement therefore less time for framing but on the good side, explore more angles and normally better IQ than zoom lens.

Portraiture doesn't mean need tele-lens and street/landscape doesn't mean got to shoot wide. Sharp/bokeh photo doesn't means good and blur photo doesn't means bad.
Be creative and make your gears work for you :)

To me,yes is the right choice,it all depend on your shooting habits, wide or not wide in CZ 135 f1.8 depend on individual style of shooting. You already have Tamron 90mm ,so it shouldn't be wrong if u buy CZ 135mm. IMHO.:D

why not rent first?

Wow thanks everyone! Very valuable advise indeed. Yah 24-70 looks tempting too. I might get this instead.

One of the sharpest lens even at wide open.
Good contrast.
Amazing bokeh (but probably lose to 135mm STF).
Best portrait lens.

But
Heavy.
Costly.

Probably one of the last lens I want to sell away, if I want to clear my camera gear.

with CZ 135mm f/1.8

this image is from a850 + 135mm f1.8 cropped from the original size 24mp
this lens is damn sharp when you use it for portrait but for walkaround might be too tight, u can consider getting 35mm f1.4 maybe? or 50mm f1.4? :)

Someone said it is great lens that produce great images to use for indoor studio with FF body if you have the space.

I don't really get it for indoor studio, as you won't be producing much bokeh. Cause you will be using strobe and f-stop 8 - 11.
