It looks like the new hotshoe on A99 and NEX 6. If you use adapter with current sony flashes, no reason why TTL flash cant be used.

Thank you, not a Sony user here so the hot shoe looks strange as I can only see one obvious contact point.

Icic, for non sony flashes, I think TTL may be lost. But this is a new hotshoe, different from previous hotshoe that uses the minolta flash mount. So alot of us probably havent use it yet.

Regards

Looks like the classic hot shoe. :dunno:
Seems like Sony is going back to the same as everyone else.;p

They should resist the urge to impose some wonky standard every now and then.

The Minolta hotshoe was not Sony's idea, and in all ways superior to the >100 year old "classic hotshoe" design.

I thought it's rather new, from 1977. :)

Well, in fairness, that's the "hotshoe". The same shape, etc, but a "cold shoe" has been around for much much longer.

I like the idea of a good lens coupled with a full frame sensor, but my experience with Sony non DSLRs hasn't always been good as one always have to dig deep to reach the required settings. This camera has a nice external control to manage the aperture control, so what it only needs next is easy one touch access to shutter speed or at least a minimum shutter speed option, ISO and exposure control with and without flash. The Leica X2 scores with such an interface which makes it such a brilliant camera to use.

You should try the RX100. Uses the Alpha DSLR menus. Very very easy to use.

Is the X2 using the Panasonic interface? My recollection of the M9 was that it was very simple.

I think it is different, can't quite recall how Panasonic works. Just one level of menu on the X2, not much there too cause most of the important functions are found on the dials or the external buttons.

Hurray, ...looks like I can recycle my AF2800 flash from the prehistoric Minolta 9000 :bsmilie:

The Leica X2 is a Leica product and not something produced by Panasonic.

Will need to see the performance and IQ to see if this is worth it. I like it that there is a choice of optional OVF or EVF.

Edit - Just saw the Steve Huff report, looks very promising indeed.

The dimensions are 113.3 x 65.4 x 69.9mm and Sony is marketing this as full frame in your pocket! It has to be a large pocket! This is only slightly smaller than the NEX 7, 119.9 x 66.9 x 42.8mm ( w/o lens). Full frame NEX coming?

IT will be such a fun camera to hold... Heaven forbid if you use gloves to hold it in winter.

This thing is too small for a FF!
