So they are saying this RX1 is a game changer. Exciting..really looking forward to see the A99 and this RX1 results..
on the side note: This RX1 looks really sexy..but pocket not deep enough. nvm. :bsmilie:

I wouldn't say it's a game changer but a resurrection of an old idea. The Konica Hexar AF was a film camera with a damn good 35mm/f2 lens.

This may revive the magical 35mm cameras again.

Hmm..RX1 maybe not. But i guess most Sony user would love a A mount 35/2 or faster.
OT OT :bsmilie:

No doubt that lovely Hexanon 35mm f2 glass but at max 1/250... that is just testing the limits (my patience that is!)

An optical VF will do just nicely for the RX1.... imagine, hyperfocal and framing through the OVF for street shooting, that's gonna be as good as any one camera lens combo!

Sony bit the bullet and developed what was considered next to impossible to fit a FF sensor into what can be seen as a really small body - comparable to say a GX1 or Canon M mirrorless body. I must say it is quite a feat to do so. They kinda achieved a holy grail and obviously the next step in the development pathway is a FF interchangeable compact system. To me, I see APS-C delivering acceptable quality already but the annoyance is that I cannot use my rangefinder lenses at native focal lengths. So this is very welcome.

I also must applaud their taking the physical dials and control from the very successful design of X100/X-Pro1 - aperture ring, exposure dial and focus selector and yet took a practical approach of not incorporating a shutter dial. I believe 90% of users simply set the shutter to A and just roll with aperture priority, thereby actually limiting the use of dial real estate the on the body.

It seems that it nearly has all the ingredients for success but it seriously fails due to the lack of a built in EVF. I hope the external one is not too heavily priced and melds in nicely with the design without being too obstructive. The EVFs on m43 bodies tend to appear too clunky and out of place.

If they actually featured an EVF like the NEX7, I would be in trouble with real hankering to get one. For now, it seems I am safe... :)

they will probably sell an optional evf (like panasonic with the gx1) to rake in more cash.

I suspect it'd close to the size of the Fuji X100. But seriously, from my point of view, there's too many compromises in terms of buttons etc.

i wonder what's it like comparing it to an RX8

The area where the ON/OFF switch is looks weird. From the top, you don't see how you could possible turn the camera on, but the front angled shot does. From the top view, top right of the shutter button, the image does not match up with that the front angled shot.

2 more days to the real deal . Maybe we will get a pleasant surprise . Cheers

It's a load of bull. I haven't seen any dimensions on sonyalpharumors yet.

judging by the comparisons via the hotshoe size and dimensions, they do have a point.

That they may, but that aside, who on earth wants to handle a bloody camera so small anyway? All this size wars are pointless especially in the western market where people have big hands. As it is, the Ricoh GXR is the smallest camera i would bother to buy, and any smaller, and the camera becomes too small to use.

(random) RX1 seems like a prefect upgrade from my Fujifilm X100! :D

(But not dumping my X100 away in BnS section cos it's a prefect collection..)

Hope to have one for my backup camera, but due to the price, sound a bit sad.
But dunno when my saving can be up to the same amount :(

And an optical one, too.

Does the hot shoe suggest that we cannot use TTL flash?

It looks like the new hotshoe on A99 and NEX 6. If you use adapter with current sony flashes, no reason why TTL flash cant be used.
