Sony releasing E-Mount specifications

Very good move by Sony to jump start the lens range, like that they can also sell more cam body as opposed to higher investment and much slower lens sales.

Now, if only Sony incorporate Sensor stabilization and micro-adjustments into the NEX body. :p

don think sensor stabalization will be in, Sony did mentioned that its impossible to do it for the NEX. But micro adjustment will probably be in, in the more advanced NEX models (maybe the rumoured NEX7)

Wish someone (if not Sony) can develop an adaptor to work with all A-mount lenses directly.

they said it's possible, but you'll be having a larger body and it'll defeat the purpose of the E-Mount.

there is one. it costs $299. but you lose the OSS that the 18-200mm and 18-55mm have with all attached A-Mount lenses.

This is really great news for consumers. Though right now, I'd really like to see a new NEX system with better ergonomics/usability. The current offerings are quite terrible to use.

New and better bodies will help them increase the system's market share, thus making it sensible for third parties to jump onto the system.

2011-2012 is very interesting for us.

70-200 F2.8 anyone?

:dunno: Who on earth will use such a heavy lens on such a small camera? The camera mount would sooner be ripped off.

The system needs good primes, but prepared to fork out good cash for it, and don't even think about autofocus unless people are willing to fork out >1K for fast lens with f stop f1.4 and below from these third party companies.

I dun mind a stabilized 70-200/f4 on NEX tho. ;)

The NEX is selling like hotcakes, sony has no problems with marketshare there. As it is, NEX was a godsend for Voigtlander. At Photokina, all you saw everywhere were NEX cameras.

The small size of the bodies was their main appeal - if they make it the size of the other mirrorless cameras, then the only differentiation will be the sensor size.

I am in Bali right now, last minute, I decided to bring along NEX system with me and it has been a wise choice.

It is so light and easy to use, I don't know why I have my A-900 system with f2.8 zoom lenses with me for...

This is a great news for the NEX user really.

Regards,

Hart

This is great news indeed. Now there will be more lens options for the NEX user :D:D:D:D:D

I wish that there are more primes for the NEX.........35mm, 50mm and 85mm with large apertures. And also macro lenses too ;) Anyone want to share their wishlist?

Great news. I guess this is Sony's retaliation at m43. But I hope Sony will release full data, especially AF. Really not much point having a manual E mount lens.

FF NEX.

FF Alpha Mount with OVF :D

this is excellent news!! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

wit this unselfish release basically sony is trying to get 1st time pns consumers to buy nex cameras thus cutting off other competitors...

Unselfish??? Like I said, this is a retaliation against the m43 consortium, which has been an open standard from day one. If Sony doesn't open up, the NEX system will lose big time to m43 now that Voigtlander, Schneider and Zeiss are on their side.

But as a NEX owner, couldn't be more happy with the news :-)

Wishlist or wishful thinking:

E-mount Leica primes with AF!!!

Ah... Leica probably has some kind of agreement with Panasonic...

True but Zeiss also has some agreement with Sony but they just joined the m43 consortium which is spearheaded by Panny and Oly :)

but all Zeiss for Alpha Mount have AF. that's the only difference

Think Sony finally realizing they need to grow adequate 3rd party support to bring nex to a new level of competition.

Internally, they probably can't ramp up enough resources to deliver the things nex and alpha users want
