From the limited amount of shooting I've done with mine, and comparing it to comparable lenses I've used, it's miles ahead of the entry-level Nikon 55-200mm VR piece of plastic, and even noticeably better overall than the substantially more expensive FF Nikon 70-300mm VR. But it's understandably not in the same league as my a-mount 70-300mm G.

A hypercritical eye might find a drop in sharpness approaching the long end; but it's still eminently decent, and damned sharp everywhere else. Contrast and color rendering are excellent throughout the range. OSS in this lens goes a long way toward compensating for its lack of speed (unless you're shooting sports, in which case you're SOL anyway). Build quality is good and the MF ring has a decent throw to it.

Add to the aforementioned positives a modest price, tiny form factor, and light weight, and Sony's got another winner here.

Hi, i'm also looking for this lens. Have checked with most of the stores, it seems like no stock available thru out Singapore. Contacted Sony Singapore and informed by them most probably the stock will arrive 02 to 03 weeks from now.

Hey just bought mine. I found stocks of this item in Fu Nan, in authorized dealer shops. They're selling it at $459. But The one I bought was from a shop in Sim Lim square, I forgot the shop name but I got it for $417 only. Did I get it at a high price? one guy in this thread was able to buy it at $391
