Just bought my Nex-5 at Harvey Norman Funan at the standard $1199. Quite happy with the freebies... 2 MS Pro Duo cards, a dry box, tripod, card reader and a sony camera case (not the Nex case.. but at least it's a sony case )

Now looking forward to the 2nd lens and other accessories.

Yeah, 2 x 8Gb Memory Cards. They let me choose between SD cards or MS Pro Duo. Decided to stick with MS Pro Duo. One was an original Sony card, the other was a Sandisk. For me, the best thing was I was able to use my credit card and yet get all the freebies. ;p

Hmm prices and packages seem to be getting interesting, just waiting for the color and accessories that I want...

Probably because NEX3 will be out soon also. To me that will be the camera that will sell better to PnS upgraders due to the colors available and price point.

Went to MS Color since its close to where i live but they are out of stock, and the indication from them was that the next shipment is August...dunno whether that is to set my expectations as a customer (since i think the next shipment would be July) or whether that is a fact.

They quoted $1,099, inclusive of the $300 voucher but i didn't ask further in terms of freebies since they've no stock.

Called MS Color and they have stock so headed down and picked one up. Over the phone they said that stock was limited...but i didn't ask how many pieces they still have.

Either kit lens package is available and both are the same price. Apparently you've the option to purchase at $1,099 without freebies but inclusive of the $300 voucher, or $1,125 with freebies and $300 voucher.

Freebies is an 8Gb SD card (Kingston...pretty standard fare), and an Alpha embossed Lowepro camera bag. I thought for $26 bucks, why not, so i took the "freebie package".

The voucher is redeemable only for the e-mount lenses and only via the shop that you purchased from. Leave your name and number and they will buzz you when the lenses arrive. By all accounts, it should be sometime in July.

Opted for the package with the 16mm lens. I thought the quicker lens would be the safer first lens for me. Moot point though since i will pick up the 18-55 when it becomes available.

Camera firmware is Ver. 01.

Charged the battery overnight so still no shots taken with it. Tried reading the manual last night but being consistent with Sony's style of manuals, is incredibly boring to read.

Though early days still, I will probably limit my lenses to the 16 and 18-55. For me, i don't see the point of anything that is physically bigger than the 18-55 since i have a "well developed" Alpha system already.

also, just wanna clarify, am i right to say that with the mount adaptor for A-mount lenses, i can use 3rd party lenses like sigma/tamron?

a bit pricey for just the 1855 and 16mm lenses hehe... im assuming you meant the dual lens kit (SRP $1299)... what more do you need the voucher for? you can only use the voucher towards the purchase of either SEL1855 OR SEL16 which are already included in that package.

That should be the RRP. There will not be $300 voucher since you are already getting the twin lens kit. The $300 is for the purchase of the other lens for those who had bought the single lens kit.

Yes, you would be able to use 3rd party lenses as long as they are in Alpha mount.

I wanna ask smth again lol I saw someone's YouTube video has this digital zoom under manual focus,true? Meaning I can just use the zoom and take pictures or still need zoom in then crop the pictures?

One more thing,cause i've got pentax lens so you guys think it's possible to use the A mount adaptor on nex then another adaptor to mount the pentax lens?

The function will only enlarge the area of focus so you can check to see and ensure that your shots are sharp and in focus.

Yes, you would need an adapter for your Pentax lens.

Just got my twin lens kit today, both colors are widely available at most shops in case anyone is keen to buy. Most shops are pretty standard in their freebies but I guess since widely available now can try to bargain a little of the RRP.

Will post some pics and impressions over the weekend
