Sony NEX-5 Firmware Upgrade

Lenrek, you have the adapter?

Not bought it yet. No the high priority for me right now. Looking at either UWA or FF adapter for the 16mm. May get a small tripod for my NEX also.

I see, shooting landscape with NEX ar? Small tripod as in low tripod? Can consider gorillapod.

I tried it before, but I find rather troublesome to make it properly horizontal. Most likely get one with panning capability, so when do pano, can do it with a smoother sweep.

Anyway, will most likely do some shop shop around, tomorrow late morning or early afternoon, before I head out to Chinese Garden.

I see, I thing gorillapod is meant for hanging anywhere and not to use as normal tripod hehe.

just sharing, updated the nex5 and lens adaptor.. tried with 3 A lens with regards to the AF speed...

SAL50F18 - 5-7seconds (P mode, Daylight, SAM)
SAL2875 - 5-7seconds (P mode, Daylight, SAM)
SAL70300G - approx 4seconds (P mode, Daylight, SSM)

A bit disappointed at the speed, but better than nothing :)

I notice sometimes (quite a lot) the focus lock beep dont sound, I'm not sure if its a bug or the NEX5 cant secure a lock. Also AF alluminator doesnt work with A-Lens attached also.

the softkey is great!

Hope everyone enjoy the new firmware :)

main :

50f18 = 5s morning - outdoor
55200f4 = 7s morning - outdoor

Upgraded and tested for couple of hours. The customizable buttons are really big pluses :) you can now switch modes change iso , white balance , and hdr level on the fly , I really like that .

The af for alpha lenses are nice, on the 85mm 2.8 it hunts quite badly. On the 35mm 1.8 , it's much faster , the af works best on my 28-75mm 2.8 among the 3 I Sam lenses have.

hi, just upgraded.....but how to customise the button??

Hi,

I am new here, anyone know which website is reliable and cheap to buy the adaptor as well as the lens? It will be cheaper to buy online as compare to buy from shop in SG?

What will be the lens recommendation if my primary focus is for zoom?

Thanks and appreciate youe help.

Any recommendation for alpha lens that support AF and the cost?

Try the Sony Alpha 35mm/1.8. With the A-mount adapter should be ard 600+.

If you don't mind the lower F-stop, you can also try the 30/2.8 Alpha Macro. Bonus is that you can do Macro with it.

Take note though that AF on the adapter is very slow (at least for the SAM lens), ard 5 sec on average to lock on so usable only for static shots.

Another alternative (but no AF) would be the Voigtlander Nokton 40/1.4 + M-mount adapter. Will be close to the same price and a fairly smaller lens and adapter.

I think both work well on the NEX.

haiz...
see the cost, is v sianz... slow AF thus only useful for static shoot.
shoot ppl... they will be sian-ed...

not sure want to buy or not.
i considering E lens + m42 lens (MF)
