Did you buy the 24-70GM as well or only the 85GM? Apparently the hot one is the 24-70, which is more expensive than the Canon 24-70f2.8MkII.

not surprising at all isnt it.
24-70 have always been popular. Especially for that kind of range and many purposes. Where else 85 is more of a specialize lens in some ways.

Seems like many shops are selling these GM lenses at RRP ?

Just got my 24-70G Master and did a quick shoot yesterday evening.

This is a amazing lens. Being sharp is as expected for a lens at this price. If it's not sharp at 100%, it's probably due to hand shake or focusing error.

But more than just sharpness, it has its own character. Punchy yet smooth, great colours, sort of film-like. In comparison, the 35mmf1.4FE has that typical Zeiss bite. Very expensive, huge yet balances well on my A7II, and worth every penny.

Forgot how to post photos so you have to take my word for it, or try it yourself.

i heard some comments from photographers that they it has the Minolta look to the photos.

anyone care to comment?

I'm not sure about the Minolta look as I have never used the Minolta system. All I can say that it has its own look, sort of creamy and very sharp, as good as many primes. It's also quite balanced on my A7II body.

all, sharing 2 pix taken with the gmaster 85mm f/1.4 below (a few more can be found here link and i will post more there in time) overall it's a lovely lens and the word creamy comes to mind ;)

weight, size, price etc are considerations but image quality looks great to me. it is very sharp for stuff u focus it on (i used flexible spot~medium with face detect on and it nailed focus 95+% of the time on my A7S which is great as it really isn't strong for AF in the A7 series lineup) and the thin depth of field gives excellent out of focus areas.

Where can I get the best price for these Gmaster lens? JB or HK? Definitely not SG I believe :)

Saw a WTB thread on 85 GM...haha. wonder who is going to sell 1.4k?
