Sony Launches New G Master™ Brand of Interchangeable Lenses

I don't think Sony is that desperate (and stupid) to throw out a pre-production lens for public testing ................

Price have been released..
According to Sony Singapore.

FE 85 GM - 2599 SGD
FE 2470 GM - 3199 SGD

Tot usually that's the case... Those that are in circulation in the market before actual sales for testing or display purposes are usually installed with version 0.9 firmware... It is for some other brands.. I am not sure about Sony though..

I've also went down n had a quick hands on. I even use my own Memory card. The 24-70 indeed focuses very quickly..the 85 is tad slower.. but still not that bad..given if you consider what it is made for and mostly used for.

Bokeh is great but.. not entirely circular as it was being advertised. (only afew are circular the rest..not really.. but the good thing is. Inside the bokeh balls..there is no "onion rings" unlike the FE55 and FE35). If you get what i meant.
I also see Green fringing as well.. Sometimes..can be quite bad too.
Lens is Sharp and weight is alright tho. (85 GM)

on side note. It is really quite a pity or rather fail that 313 does not have both Batis for testing.

The Batis is a pure Zeiss lens (not Sony Zeiss), so I do not think it will be there for testing unless they are in stock in a camera shop (not Sony shops). Not to mention Batis are forever so slow in their production. :dunno:

The 85mm Batis was in the Sony showroom in nex Serangoon last week. Though I did not ask to try it, I am sure the staff will allow it. I was more keen to try the 25mm Batis which was not available in the showroom.

feel like hooting the FE 2470 GM, its kind a chore to carry for travel tho.

I thought so too until the sales person at the Sony outlet in Terminal 3 offered a Batis 85mm to me when I was asking about the a6300.

I had the same thoughts but after trying out and seeing it's so heavy, I might just stick to the sony-zeiss FE2470 F4 for travel purposes. I find my f4 2470 decently sharp, although there are some negative reviews online (perhaps it's because I don't know how to evaluate properly, and I don't pixel peep).

I notice 2470 is sharp viewing wide but when zoom in it dont maintain the sharpness well enough.
I compared it with my canon 24-70mkii, it is sharper through out the range.
I think is because of bigger front element one is 82mm another 1 is 67

Is it correct to say that Distagon 35mm f/1.4 is slightly sharper compared to the 2470? Tried both zoom and open wide on the same subject.

Erm. Hong kong Sony shop. Have them for testing though. I was there couple of weeks ago.

So these G-Masters only releasing for full frame sonsor? No focal length around 16 or 17mm?

I'm in Taiwan. Quoted around 28xx SGD SGD(67980 NT) for the 2470 GM.

That is about the same as Singapore's pricing if you factor in 7pct GST unless retailers here sell at RRP.

Have the stocks for Singapore arrived for this lens? Any idea when? I was told mid April but it looks like it's delayed.

MS colour and slr revolution said they have the lens for testing. You can call them to ask about the date of arrival.

I have already tried it at the Sony Centre. This is the lens I want!! :))
