Just came back from the Sony HD Fiesta.

They just launched the V1, handled it and loved it. Coupled with the new 60Gb 1.8" HD, you've got it made. It can do 25p, cinelike gamma, soft knee, 20x zoom, XLR inputs, and HDV quality. What's more it's smaller and easier to handle than Z1.

If they stick to the launch in US, then it would not cost more than $100-150 more than Z1. Currently, the Z1 is SGD7777 with Sony Gun mic and tripod.

This is going to give Panasonic HVX200 a real run for the money.:thumbsup:

looking at the picture.. seems like the HD mounting on the "hot shoe"? just wonder how to mount video lite if u have the HD attached? :think:

You will need a brace for mount everything on your cam which I think it is not recommended, it will be better if the HDD can be clip on your belt... Lights more important.

Just modify it. A longer firewire will do just that. The hot shot mount just makes it more compact. A few velcro strap to the handle will also do good.

Too bad it is a 1/4 inch CMOS x3. Will be mine if it is 1/3 inch.

The bigger sensors HDCAM are about $25k each that's more than 5x that of these smaller models. Today's standard these smaller cams are up to current broadcast standards. Also the weight of these bigger cams are quite unbearable for long productions. Unless you are shooting for large projection output, the smaller 1/4' sensors are are very good up to more than 100' screen size projections.

All I ask for is a 1/3 inch sensor which is equvilant to the Z1 or the FX1 which is cheaper.

Looking at the specs, it is indeed a very competent cam... I agree with your last statement... if I am in serious video production business, this is one cam I'll get
