Hi guys, I'm looking to buy a
Sony Handycam HDR-FX7. whats are your takes on it?
Its only the mini dv issues that bothering me but my budget is really tight.
I'm looking to go freelance on a video cam and wishes to start with this one. is it a good choice? "D must guidance would be appreciated!

FX-7 has a very small chip = poor low light. Plus it is the early CMOS design so the rolling shutter issue is quite apparant. Its as good as a camcorder in a bigger case with some additional features. Not the best camera to start with IMHO.

My take is to save up another 2k and consider the following. The difference between all 3 is within 1k in my estimation. All of them in the 5k-6k plus range inc GST without additional accessories. Just my estimation cuz street prices are very competitive so you have to find out yourself. I didnt recommend Panny HMC-150 cuz I think the AVCHD will cost you more $ on the backend to handle it. HDV and HD mpeg2 is a lot more easy to handle for most pro NLEs.

Sony FX1000 (Stereo only, 1/3" CMOS, miniDV, 25P plus 50i, HDV)
JVC HM-100 (Full HD and many resolution and framerate options + XLR + Solidstate to SDHC but only 1/4" CCD and small size, dun look like PRO esp for weddings, events)
Canon XH-A1/XH-A1s (Value for $$ with XLR, 25F HDV very flim like but only on miniDV)

Yea i check checked with FX-7 too. they stopped stocking already. now I'm looking at the XH-A1s. Any good lobangs? hehe thanks for the suggestions!
Wanna get second hand one uh.
