Same here,

I hv a PD170P which is still be my mainstay until the next cam comes. Any users have experience of both cameras?

Am I ok to go Panasonic HMC152 is tempting.

I do pretty alot of theater and concert videos with the Canon XH-A1 and XL-H1 and so far both works really awesome with good sticks and heads.

I watched a couple of videos on vimeo taken using the XH-A1 and XL-H1. very nice.

Hobbes00..How about focusing in lowlight? do you set them on auto or manual? recording framerate? can a MacBook Pro ingest the HD footages? What do you use to edit?

I was reluctant to go for the XL-1 when it first came out and heard about backfocusing. The thing about the canons is their color..me like long time.

between a EX1 & Z7, I'd still go for a Z7 mainly because I prefer to have the options of recording on tape for my clients.

Despite the hype about XDCAM and the cineAlta, etc...Z7's F970 batteries are also cheaper than the EX1's and the batts are compatible with my current systems.

I remember someone telling me that EX1 handles low light better than Z7 ... I have seen the Z7 in low light, I'm not impressed ... have not seen EX1 in action.

EX1 autofocus is not good. U will have to shoot fully manual. Low light? 1/2" CMOS (EX1) vs 1/3" CMOS (z7)... I didnt get to try out between the two but I did a comparison with z5. I am impressed. z5 is also 1/3" but they have improved it quite a bit. Can see my review video.

For your application, I would consider the Z5. It has has the longest zoom amongst the 3 here.

focusing ability and low light capability aside, wanna how many of our bro users that have the Z7 or any cams with interchangeable lens actually CHANGE and use other lenses in a normal shooting environment?

Tell us your story..or maybe i should start a new thread.:dunno:.if i do?...mods please spank me:bsmilie:

I'll prefer the EX1 due to the fact that it records both HDV and XDCam.

Yeah...i had 1/2" ENG cameras, but never changed lenses before too....

I guess you've heard from most of the experienced guys in this video forum...All of us have different requirements, so I guess there isn't a perfect camera for everyone.

Do share with us on which camera you've gotten for your requirements too.

Hi ,

thank you all for your rely ,I am personally incline to ex-1 as it is a 1/2 sensor, a little better qty and the price a little more (10 to 15 % ) than the other

still saving up

How about Z5? I hear that it can record on static media with its optional recording unit. It peforms well on low light conditions and has a 20X optical zoom.
