Sony DSC-TX7

1) What is "Dual shot completed" shown in the lcd screen when using intelligent auto?
I checked the handbook.pdf but cannot find this configuration.

2) I originally thought there is a golf swing kind of feature for tx7.
I.e. take a consecutive 10 shots to show the minor changes in the picture.
But couldn't locate that feature.
The "golf swing" selection in scene mode is more for sports scene, high shutter speed only.
Any idea?

3) Transferjet. Do u think it is a gimmick or a potentially useful feature?
I checked the camera (it is supposed to be located bottom of camera) but no such icon.
Is it not approved in Singapore or some shops did not carry transferjet TX7?

2 > It's simply the 10fps burst mode which will capture the minor movements. Burst speed selection is available in most modes including iA

3 > Think you'll need a transferjet compatible card to perform the transfer

Bro, under the Anti Motion Blur mode, how to manually set the ISO? I couldn't find it in the settings, can only see WB, Easy Menu, Metering, etc.

Thanks.

I used Anti Motion Blur mode as I want the camera to use ISO 3200 so that I can compare with the other cameras at that ISO.
A lower ISO would have been used by the TX7 if Handheld Twilight mode is set.

Anyone has shot 1080i video? Does it look bad? I was quite prepared to buy this camera until I saw that it took only 1080i video... on the Sony website, 1080p mode is listed for the video but the resolution was listed as 1440 x 1080... is there a typo or what?! Cos on the first page for this TX-7, the Full HD logo is shown... is that misleading or what?! Anyone can help?

Dpreview shows 1920 x 1080 at 30fps but didn't say if it is interlaced or progressive... anyone can confirm? Thanks!

Wonder if the price is good at this IT show...

Am suffering from buyer's remorse currently :(
I should have waited slightly to buy the package.

Bought in Parisilk at cheaper than RRP price.
But IT show has extra battery , giving MS pro (instead of Kingston SD class 4 card).
After deducting the extra original battery (price is quite standard, don't think shops can reduce further),
The additional S$26 (from the IT show package) can get u a tripod, screen protector, Sony digital photo frame.

Think it is a better package, cuz i have to buy a screen protector myself ($10) and cut it to the right size.

its always the case.. i bought

I gotten my HX5V for $649 nett.

It comes with

* 7" Sony Digital Photoframe
* Additional Original Sony battery
* 8Gb MS Pro
* Sony Carrying Case (extremely good quality, can use as a sling or hook onto belt)
* Mini tripod
* Screen protector
* $10 Carls Junior Voucher

Heng, i waited for IT Show, din buy at MSColor nor Parisilk.. They were not able to match the freebies... even thought their prices are some $60 cheaper.. however they lack extra sony battery and digital photoframe..

The photoframe itself retail price is already $150... extra original sony battery costs another $50...

This is for HX5V

Why would 1080i video look bad? The maximum output is 1080i @ 50fps of around 17Mbps video bitrate. I've taken some videos of the dolphin show & it looks great on my 24" monitor.

Cos it's interlaced and not progressive... I was wondering if I could take progressive full HD as advertised... it seems that it's some sort of gimmick with 1080i and not 1080p...

Anyone knows the price of the TX-7 at IT Show?

1080i is what broadcasters would normally use for HD broadcasts so technically they're not wrong to advertise it as full HD.

anyway i have the graphics card to do the heavy lifting so output looks similar if not as good as progressive content.

anybody got any insider info on the TX5 - the rugged, waterproof, dustproof version of the TX7. It's actually managing to do all that AND be smaller than the TX7! I believe cheaper too. Trade-offs: lousier, smaller, low-res screen, no HD video-recordings, mono, instead of stereo mic.

anybody got info on when it'll be available here?

The point is that they advertise full 1920x1080 resolution... but so far all the website show that it's 1080i and not 1080p... it's a marketing gimmick...

$699 for the TX-7 and comes with some freebies. Check this out

Thanks! I don't need all the freebies except the memory card... I wonder if MS Color or Alan Photo or Cathay Photo will give a discount in lieu of those freebies...

Yes they do. ;)

"I wonder if MS Color or Alan Photo or Cathay Photo will give a discount in lieu of those freebies..."

AP doesn't carry Sony DC. Went there to check and realised it.
CP took part in the IT show, hence the nice freebies. Not sure if they will extend the freebies after the show. Those promoters are quite rigid on the freebies during the show when i was there on Saturday.
seems like CP is not that flexible, not sure if it changed during sunday.
But i feel it was a thriving biz for cp during that show, or so i noticed
lotsa human traffic for their booth.

Hmm... not interested in the freebies except for the memory cards and the free battery... basically the price of $699 is rather steep...

It's way below 600 if you only want the memory card and extra batt
