Sony Cybershot WX-1

Yes, I'm also facing the error message and it still works.

HTH.

I got one of those dual adaptors too but it gives me an error message every time I switch from playback to record mode. It works fine just has an annoying message. Does your adapter do that as well Xtemujin?

^ okay thanks! guess I'll just keep my current one.

The panOps function on the WX1 is really great.

I want this function in my DSLR.

Hi dude,
What happen if you pan half way? will you see black or blank picture in your photo when downloaded
in to your lappy?

How do you pan halfway? Once you release the shutter, the camera assumes all the footage taken is the pano you want to capture... how do you get a black or blank part in the pano?

If the pan is successful but it is halfway, you'll get a black photo part on the other half.

If your pan is unsuccessful, the camera will tell you to reshoot.

After a week with the WX-1, I am happy to say that this little wonder is a keeper.
It takes the hassle out of shooting, I usually keep it on Anti-Blur mode and the colors are pretty decent in my opinion.

Most of the pictures are usable and I only crop them before uploading them up to the web. My previous compacts were the F200EXR, Sony DSC-W80, countless Powershots from G3-G9.

I must say the initial hesitation and worry over the performance of this WX-1 was all gone after the few shots I took at home without any flash and indoor lighting.

Anyway here are some shots I have taken with this over this week. Enjoy.

Hey guys please take a look at the pics which I have taken. I was wondering is my camera faulty ? as the area towards the left which I have circled in red always appear to be blurred. Is this normal?

Firatly I don't think there's anything wrong. Secondly, you need to give some details as to what you used to take the pictures! Body and lens please.

Now you circled mainly trees in the out of focus bits. For each picture, the trees are all equally blur whether in the red circle or outside of it. There are a few reasons: 1) You're shooting wide angle, the resolution of the lens isn't enough to see the individual leaves. 2) There might have been wind, so the leaves were moving. 3) You might have been moving especially for the night shot.

Shot by shot analysis:
1) For the shot of the block of flats, the left bits are blur cos they're probably outside the depth of field. If you use a low aperture value (i.e. large f value), then the depth of field is shallow and the area behind the point of focus will be out of focus. It's natural and is highly sought after in some types of photography.

2) For the night shot in particular, it's a high ISO shot, so the details are smudged by the noise reduction algorithm. No surprises that the picture looks so soft there.

3) The left and right sided trees look equally smudged. I don't see why you singled out the left sided tree. Unless you were pixel-peeping at 100%. Zoom out to 50% and view the pictures again. Do they look sharp? If so, then you're good to go... no one views stuff at high magnification... and few DSLRs can resolve such great detail... maybe a 65MP digital back from Phase One...

Thanks for the reply. You are really a professional !!! Btw I am using Sony WX1 in P mode to take the pictures shown.

Let me see, I've read somewhere that they mention once we inserted the microsd into that adapter and start using them already, try not to take them out if not necessary or there will be error.
Another one is, insert the microsd to adaptor, then format them in the camera itself and not in the pc.
Also they said theres one brand out there from japan that is specially made for sony psp, I wonder will it be better for sony product compatibility since its specially made for psp. This is the one they mention "PhotoFast CR-5400 Dual Slot MicroSD/HS to MSPD Adapter"

use A priority with a low f number, then focus on the subject you want

Used program mode with f2.4 and focus on the nearest cocoa fruit.

ISO was 160 , shutter was 1/60sec.

The WX1 is very IR-sensitive and can be viewed and shot handheld even at the lowest ISO speed of 160.

can bros here confirm that the battery compartment door is acceptable ? from reviews, it seems that it always opens up when you reach for the camera, due to the placement of the door. Is this an issue I should be concerned with ?

^^^ battery door never opens on mine unless I want it to.

Anyone uses Sandisk or Lexar MS Pro Duo other than Sony brand on WX1?

Care to share?

TIA.

I am using Sandisk UltraII MS Pro duo card. Faster than Sony Mark2
