Sony CX-550E accessories

I am a camera guys for many years, but recently decided to take up camcorder for Home Movie making. I am a complete newbie in Camcorder.

Call up all my pevious Camera Shop , like Alan Phote, MS, Orient,.. etc.. all got very little Camcorder accessories. I even have problem finding a good quality 37mm protector filter

Please recommend me shops that I can get accessories for my new Camcorder Sony CX-550E.

Things that I need,

1) A good quality 37mm Protecter filter like the Camera equivalent B+W or at least a HOYA HMC. By the way, is Camcorder filter different from Camera? Please recommend ! How about a CPL?

2) A microphone that can have Wind & Noise cancellation (attached to Camcoder). If Wireless mic are under $300, I will serious consider it.

I am happy to share all my findings with you
it is not too difficult to get a 37mm lens filter because m4/3 lens also use 37mm.
A CPL is not that recommended due to the wide angle of our cx550.

i am also looking at accessories.
you can buy from sony showroom, but if you want cheaper, you can actually get from mscolor or other shops
just tell them the model, and they will order from you. usually cheaper than the sony showroom.

i think the wireless mic serves a different purpose as the zoom gun right?
the bluetooth wireless mic is more for those reporters or hosts, attached to their collar.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I am amaze by the quality of the CX550. I have being a camera guy until recently. Still very new at it and are really disappointed where the camera accessories are aplenty, camcorder's accessories are so hard to come by.

Was looking through BHphoto as the other Reply's advise. The cost difference are really not that much unless I buy a few thing together.

Are you using a zoom mic too? any recommendation?

are there any good website that have a lot of material regarding comcorder and the skill to use one?

I am searching the internet to find out the difference between HD FX, FH, HQ, aren't the resolution all HD? but the file size difference is great. Is it due to the Frame Rate??... these novice question must have being ask countless times

Anyone know of any website with lots of reading material to help me advance in this new found hobby?

hi,

i am not using a zoom mic yet.
2 reasons,

1) there is only one hotshoe and i cannot decide between a mic or a videolight. we cant put double stuff.
i think i am more towards videolight now. because if the recorded voice is not that gd, i can replace it with nice music.
the built in seems good enough for the moment.

2) i have 2 x fv50 now, which is barely enough for a short single event. i will not want an external device to take up more of the power unless i buy more batteries.

i am quite interested in the duo external rapid charger soon because i am not very keen to charge through the camcorder and fry it one day. haha

as for the different formats, there are many versions of HD and their bit rates. record at the best resolution with the biggest file size if you can. since you are a camera person, it is somewhat like how you appreciate taking photos at RAW. its easier to adjust later

i think i been recording at the "FH" mode because it allows you to use the camera at the same time.

i am actually happy that camcorders do not come with many accessories to buy. for the past few weeks, I have been pondering if i should buy the 70-200 f2.8 for my dslr which cost more than my CX550.

now i wish i have 4 hands. 1 set to operate my dslr and 1 set for the cx550.

I have an original Sony video light for sale that fits the proprietary hotshoe on the CX550 here if anyone is interested.

Bear in mind, the AIS hotshoe on most Sony video cameras cannot fit 3rd party standard hotshoe accessories like microphones and lights.

Sony's zoom mic is pretty sucky. I rather you get the rode stereo video mic but it costs 370bucks.
