Sony Carl zeiss 24mm f1.8

Buying a Zeiss lens cap won't do it for you?

Right now the smallest they have is ALC-F62Z : Lens Cap : SLT & DSLR Accessories : Sony Singapore
Which i believe is meant for the 16-80. This 24mm is 49 thread size. No far there is none according to website..unless im unaware of?
+ why do we need to buy ourself when it "should" come with the lens itself. Am quite disappointed actually. Well i know many cant be bothered by/with this. So i shall rest my case.

That's a pity they don't make a 49mm one.
Maybe Sony would need to pay $0.05 more per lens to Zeiss if they would put the logo on the lens cap. ;-)

Even Zeiss themselves don't produce any 49mm front lens caps. They seem to jump from 46mm to 58mm with nothing in-between.

If i'm not wrong, the zeiss lens caps (front + rear) are only for zeiss lenses manufactured directly by Cosina (ze, zf, zm etc). The sel 24/1.8 came directly from Sony's production line, no? albeit using the zeiss sonnar lens formula... that said, I'm fairly new to Sony, not too sure about the A mount zeiss lenses though!

To be honest I wonder whats the fuss about the lens cap. For me, the lens cap is off the lens and in the pocket the majority of the time. After all, aren't we buying the lens to shoot stuff instead of walking around posing with the camera+lens+lens cap :bsmilie:

Its to my understanding that Zeiss doesn't manufacture the majority of their lens, including the glass these days. They design, specify and develop the manufacturing process. After which, their partners such as Cosina, Sony, etc make the lens and get to use the Zeiss branding.

you would go there only to get ridiculed for using the Alpha. i once walked in, asked their price for lenses and accessories... then after wasting 15 minutes of the salesman's time when there were customers were walking in and out....

i took out my A850 and he was like :what:

That's that attitude I got too when asking about nex systems!
