Sony Alpha NEX-C3

Go and play around with both and see which one suit your needs. I agreed that $75 is too little for any good decision. Hmm maybe the margin will be bigger when NEX-5N is out?:) Then you will ask again to get NEX-5 or NEX-5N:P

NEX-5
+ 1080p HD Video (if you seldom take video, this one feature quite useless or good to have )
+ solid body and grip (it is important as the camera is not big and grip is more important)
- 14 Mpx and less IQ (seriously the difference in IQ is not significant)

NEX-C3
+ Additional photo effects (if you use those photo effects, good to have and create some fun pictures)
+ 16Mpx and better IQ
+ Colourful pink:P (well colour will appeal to gals or attract attention, but NEX itself with a small body but huge lens already a head turner)
- 720p video
- plasticky body and less solid grip

so is confirmed that NEX 5 don't have photo effects feature, even with upgraded firmware?

NEX c3 with 18-55 lens is $912
NEX 5 with 18-55 lens is $850

Price and Build vs Performance wise, if you were me, which one will u choose?

or should I just get NEX 5 with 18-200 lens for $1661 ?

NEX-5 has picture effect but not photo creativity effect which both are found in NEX-C3.
See this URL http://ids.update.sony.net/DSLR/ErWPkeXQ1r/ver4_manual_gb.pdf for NEX-5/NEX-3 firmware 0.4 upgrade.

NEX-C3 also allows 5 custom keys instead of 3 custom keys in NEX-5/NEX-3.

Get NEX-5 with 18-200 @ $1661 and get 18-55mm from clubsnap B&S at $100 to $150:P

Actually all expect some e-mount lenses, have no OSS or any form of image stablisation in them as Sony always adovcate to have image stablisation or steady shot inside the body. E-mount lens bo bian because they want to make NEX series small. It will be good to have image stablisation in NEX-7 and will help in using those huge A-mount lenses:)

should i get 18-55 again? since you recommend to get 18-200.
So you reckon NEX price is more worth it as compared to c3?

Well the price for NEX-5 with 18-200 is quite attractive. The lens itself is about $1060 hence you are paying like $600 for the body. This definitely cheaper than your NEX-5 with 1855 kit then get 18200.

Not sure have you seen how big 18-200 lens is? It is huge and heavy. Well I feel that there are time that 18-55 is useful if you are don't need that extra zoom and want travel lightweight.

Basically what you need? I just gave my opinions based on my needs. I will love to get 18200:P but no $$$:(

Is this your first interchangable lens camera? Maybe start with cheaper setup and explore what you need?

I have sold all my canon 7D system with all the premium lens. Hard to carry around large camera with backpack while pushing my baby's stroller around. Need something smaller now, do u think i should get nex 5 with 18-200 and never look back? Or just settle with nex c3 18-55? Is the price i got cheap as compared to sg?

Hi guys,

Any sample pictures taken using NEX C3 to show?

I think best is you go to the store and try out nex-5 with 18-200 whether you can still accomplish pushing your baby's stroller and so on. I understand the need of 1 single lens for you as you have no time to change lens. The extra zoom from the 200mm is good to take your baby or kid doing their things undisturbed and catch unaware:) I think your price is decent especially the nex-5 bundled with 18-200, maybe the rest here can verify it. Can share your lobang whether can just get 18-200 alone. The best price I found is $1060:) Was thinking to get it next year when I go Hong Kong where the price is around $900.

Well since u are not new to this.. u should know whether.. the 18-55 is good enough for you.. or the 18-200 works better for u.. hmm.. unless you dont know how far 200mm can zoom.. the 18-200 is bigger but not huge..if im not mistaken its 62mm? and weights like 500 odd grams..whereas the 18-55 is like 200 grams and 49mm filter size.. In any case..just try it out in the shop..then decide.

Just got my Nex-C3 with E 2.8/16. At the same time brought the Nikon 50mm f1.8G for my Nikon D7000. Did a random shot for both and the IQ are both as good. Can anyone here advise on the adaptor (brand) for Nikon mount on the Nex-C3? Thank

The Kipon adapters are built resonably well. They are made in China. The really cheap ones are not built very well.

Are you trying to use the 50mm f1.8G on the NEX? If so, you will need to find an adaptor that allow aperture change or you will be shooting everything wide-open.

Not likely to use my G lenses on the NEX. I will use the converted Leica 100mm APO.

Oic....if you got cash to burn, get the voigtlander adaptor. Built quality is solid.

Hi, does anyone know if NEX-C3 can be fitted with the upcoming Panasonic pancake zoom lens?
