Your shutter can last at least 100,000 shots or more, not sure, but definitely is not anything you should worry about. What I meant by wasted is that, the technician will have to keep shooting and your shutter count will go up. Say from 1000, to 1800, TO ME 800 shots would be wasted. You get what I mean? Nothing serious, don't worry, just my personal taste haha!

yeah i get what u mean. hahas. ohhh. so ur recommendation is just use my battery for now and see how it goes after 1 or 2 more charge? but for me, 2 full charge, so far hit 400 shots only. abit too little man. ahhh. im in a dilemna

Yep, just keep using it normally. Probably even more then 1 or 2 more charges. Actually 400 seems pretty alright already. Considering that you have use live view as well.

Do take note that if you use flash, review images, they all consume more power too. Don't be too bothered about it. Enjoy your camera and keep shooting, really!

If you really need more juice, you can consider purchasing a new battery or a whole new body.. :bsmilie:

i don really worry about shutter counts.

Assuming a DSLR has a lifespan of 100000 counts, it will take 10 yrs of 10000 per yr in order to finish it. and i don even take 10000 pictures a year LOL.

Im fairly certain i will change my DSLR before it even reaches 50% of its life span ;p

A550 battery life very good. ;)

hahahas. i have 3 years of warranty on my body.

anyway linnl71, thanks for all the advise, i guess im gona get another original battery probably from stores out there rather than from sony. damn ex. hahas a new body? im pretty broke after getting this one. on tight budget.

but my problem definitely not my dslr body faulty or whatever right? hahas.... ok lar. im thinking too much.

For me, I'll get my battery check by sony asap. Imagine shooting 1/2 way and running out of Batt! Disaster!

hmmm. u mean i dont have to worry abt the shutter counts or dun worry about my battery issue and carry on using?

so that means when my a330 hits abt 50000-100000 shutter counts, the whole camera will be out of use?
give it a few more charge to run in the battery before judging battery life. anyway even when battery low warning is out you can still continue to shoot until cam auto shut off.

Hi TS,

Do you alway shoot with your flash on? Is so, that explains your 'weak' battery life.

Also, do you leave auto focus with viewfinder on? this will cause your camera to keep autofocusing when when you are not shooting while the camera is hanging at your neck which leads to extra battery drain.

I don't own a DSLR but I have a Sony PNS camera (H2).
The camera is using AA batteries, I only managed to take 30 to 40 shots (no flash) before camera indicates battery flat. At first I thought it could be my re-chargeable batteries spoilt (2700mAh). I have replaced many re-chargeable batteries but problem remains.

I suspect its the camera that is faulty and not the batteries. Anyway I have not sent my camera for repair (too lazy and no warranty anymore).

Rechargeable batteries are environmental friendly but I find that they are not very good for cams. I had the same experience when I was using the Fuji 9600 too. Then I switch to using Energizer Alkaline batteries and the problem was solved. I was using the Sanyo rechargeable batteries back then. Maybe you would like to try Eneloop batteries instead since a lot of people swears by it.

i dont really take alot of flash. my auto focus is on all the time, but the thing is i dont hang it on my neck, i'll on it when i need to use, and off it when i dont have to. 30% of my shots are taken with live view.

anyway on the side note, i've hit 180 shots so far for my 2nd charge. still have 1 bar left.

Some things to note that may cause batteries depreciated :

1) Did not take out batteries when not in use.

iF U are not using your camera it is advisable to remove the batteries from the camera as it eats out the battery whether you got turn it on or off.

2) Avoid turning on or off all the times. Leave it ON unless you are not doing any more new shots at a particular location.

3) Firmware updates may resolve battery issues. Check it at sony.com.sg/support
