Sony A7 with M mount lens

Nice to learn some info here. Decide to try A7 for 50 summilux use.

Here are 2 shots from my Lux 50/1.4 ASPH on my A7 for your reference...

Anyone has tried the Viogtlander 28mm f2 Ultron on the a7? care to share?

I'm a Bokeh guy. Haha. CV Ultron 35/1.7 is great for street though.

How come u know 28mm is not as sharp? I think it will not be easy to get the 35mm f1.7...

Tested it before quite awhile back, did some quick sample shots (photos not available as it was on my corrupted harddisk then) and wasn't impressed. The Ultron 28/2 isnt an aspherical lens unlike the Ultron 28/1.9 (predecessor), which was acclaimed to be the sharper of the 2 versions.

Went for the Ultron 35/1.7 aspherical lens instead as I see relatively better sharpness/contrast/Bokeh as compared to the Ultron 28/2... U can see one of the reviews here:

Yes... as it is an out of production lens and not many people selling it (it is a really awesome lens for its price), you will have quite a hard time to hunt down one in good condition considering its age.

I guess unless I can see one to test and buy, I would have to give it a pass for now. So I have to settle for other lenses with the range between 28-35mm available. That is why I wanted to know which other lenses worth considering... and in production...

Depends on yr budget. Lotza good 28-35mm lenses.

More from my trusted 35mm focal length LTM lens for now...

Voigtlander 35mm f/1.7 Ultron ASPH...

Does it work for detail work and landscapes?

The CV35/1.4 fails on this and all Biogon design ones have issues.

Seems to work fine for detailed work n landscape for me. Dunno what's yr benchmark?

What's the issue wif biogons and cv35/1.4?

Same for me CV35/1.2 seems I'm not that impressed when used for landscape maybe I'll try more see if it is user issue not the lens

Sharp from edge to edge?

Cv35/1.4 does not sharpen up to even good levels at f8 on A7.

Biogon designs, edge smear, vignetting and colour cast

I am surprised.
IIRC, I thought some online bloggers said it was ok.
But then again very often they mostly shoot at large apertures and not landscapes.
Thanks for your inputs certainly.

Edge to edge sharpness comes around f/4 to f/5.6 in my experience for the Ultron. The aspherical glass helps where the cv35/1.4 lacks.

Interesting.
Cv35/1.4 issues are on A7 only of course and not on film.

Do you gave samples at f5.6, f8?
TIA

I have made a quick landscape with my CV35/1.2 and with Cron-r 35 and I find the cron renders better but then again bro it might be me hehe so I will shoot more.

Issue I am seeing is the vignette, some banding (this is maybe due to flange distance? Or that time I was shooting JPEG not raw?) and slightly soft at the sides compare with cron-r 35.

No f/5.6 or f/8 shots... these r at f/4. Anyway, I would go with an UWA lens for landscape shots though...
