Sony A7 with M mount lens

:bsmilie: post pic taken with ur F1.2 . spread the poison!~ :bsmilie:

Poison post by others bro very poison liao.

My new f1.2 don't have convetor to test, tmr will go buy..

Hmm maybe can do a test to compare both 1.2 lens.

Yoz, I found out that I have previously set the focus peaking level to low.

Have now changed to High and MF focus is like a breeze ;)

You can try on your FE35 to see.

bros... really nice shots you guys had here...
i wanna get mf lens to try... which are the lens recommended for starters?...
i tried my friend's new vl 35 1.2 ii and found it really challenging to shoot with it *using focus peaking*...
any tips for newbies like me using mf lenses?...

really poisoned by your pics... the looks and feel of the lenses...

actually not as advisable to set to high as alot more area will be flagged up as in focus, and this will mean reduced accuracy for fast lenses like F1.2. Best to set it as medium or low and in a color that is not in the scene. I typically pick red.

Ya, high will show more on focus but previously when set to low cannot see any indication at all 1.2. I thought my peaking not working :p

I would recommend medium or high. I picked Yellow as the color though.

the sensitivity of the peaking varies from lens to lens. the sharper/higher contrast the lens is, the better the focus peaking works. similarly you get more obvious peaking from wider angle lenses compared to longer lenses.

My only advise is get to know your lens more :-) the more you use her the better you'll know her tweaks and irks and of course her sweet spot :-) lenses are like lady/woman you wont know them well unless you spend more time with them :-).

happy shooting!

Yah. Totally agree. Each has her own character and mood.

Good analogy btw. Haha

when you bought the adapter please take note the 50 1.2 AIS have one metal stick out from the mounting, so some of the AFS adapter must be modify before can mount the lens.

I have two version of adapter,
The one i bought from ebay with better build and much more cheaper can be use without modification.

the second version i bought from Reddot cannot be use because of the metal adjusting the aperture blocking the metal from the lens. but I remove the mechanism because i can use the aperture on the lens.

Just bought the M mount adapter...

here are some of the test pictures..

U bought the VME close focusing? Its the one to buy.

I have the VME, and also used the Hawk's Helicoid, and also the unbranded China ones before.

Honestly, the VME is beautifully built and a joy to touch and feel, looks the nicest of the lot. However it is so well built that it is very rather tight. while smooth to turn and operate, I find the resistance/damping to be too strong, meaning you have to put in extra effort to twist the helicoid.

The Hawk's V2.5 was very good, just the nice amount of resistance, kind of regret selling this for the VME, maybe should have kept it as a spare. Easy to twist and feels well built. I particularly like the focusing tab which makes it easy to control the helicoid, vs the VME which you have to turn the "barrel". The new V3 and V4 Hawk's are tighter to turn and come with locking mechanisms.

China generic helicoids - I had a few copies, some were great, felt like the Hawk's, some were not smooth to twist. depends on the luck to get a good copy. Cheapest though, you can get 5-6 of these china adaptors at the price of a Hawk's or VME. no frills and no focusing tab is my only complaint.
