Bro ricleo, heard ea4 has got its own pdaf focusing. Is there a significant improvement in af-c tracking when using A mount lens with ea4?.

I'm also wondering to go for A mount 24-70 CZ or Tamron with EA4 PDAF or SEL2470Z with intelligent AF for the A7R....

SEL2470Z, as with most native lenses, focuses pretty slowly in low light, even on the a7. But yet other lenses adapted with laea4 loses OSS, on top of being larger and not as ergo friendly. Haiz...

there is definitely improvement in good light vs the e mount lenses, at least for the 3 primes i am using (sig 85 1.4, CZ 135 and minolta 200 2.8).

but in low light it is still not ideal due to the light loss with the translucent mirror in the adaptor. seems to be slightly improved with the latest firmware update but not good enough for me when comparing to my canon 5D3.

agree with this. larger and not as ergo friendly. no OSS unless you get the sigma lenses like 70-200, 150 macro and 150-500 etc.

PDAF with the laea4 definitely better den the CDAF on the A7R.

Sigma lenses for alpha mount retains their OS?

I have tried the PDAF with A mount lens. AF is fast and sharp. It's the size and OSS that is driving me to overlook the distortion and soft corners... I find this a really tough call.

Initially I tot the a7/sel2470z combo will be adequate to move into things like event photography. As you know, ppl still have stereotypes when it comes to non dslr at events/weddings. I thought A7 could prove them wrong. I mean, it's fantastic, but still struggles in low/indoor light... Perhaps the native primes will be better in low light af, but u still lose flexibility... Haiz....

I think the A7 is still not going to be able to handle some events just because of the slow AF in low light..some events are in dark places and the a7 isn't going to work. But for most normal events in the day, it should work fine.
Distortion should be the least worry in the 2470 if you do events since if you shoot in jpg, it's already corrected and you don't edit every single jpg image you give to the client. And for bigger events where you need to edit the photos you shoot in raw...well, just apply the lens correction and that solves the issue as well.
So yes, there is bad distortion from the lens but both jpg and raw will have fixes so to me the flexibility and oss and size is more important than the distortion...The only thing that has no fix...is the AF in low light..

Low light AF is a real weakness here... Regarding people's perspective, humans are often subjective than objective.. Unless DSLR starts to phase out.. I doubt the bigger is better notion will cease.

some images from the 35mm FE for a change

Random shooting to test the FE55 wide open and the micro contrast of the zeiss.
I must say, this lens really is sharp even wide open and the micro contrast is very evident.
Both photos unprocessed, SOOC 9mp jpg. Yes, i buy an a7r but i only shoot at 9mp :)
