Better be fast... I have posted in quite a few places and people are already preparing to go down to P&G to get it... Good luck bro...

Bbb! I think Thoth singlehandedly brought up the price of the 58 1.2 rokkorby a few hundred bucks

(2) The subject isolation of FE lenses seems to lack character. It is just so clean, high contrast, sharp and predictable. Imagine anyone with these lenses crank it to widest aperture, you will get tonnes of similar images. Bokeh is the artistic quality of OoF area. Can the term bokeh still be used to described the OoF of FE lenses. It is almost a guarantee that you get these similar effect once you crank it wide open. There is no swirly bokeh, there is no light falloff, there is no abrupt transitions, etc.

Take the difference between the Zeiss ZM 50mm Planar vs Sonnar. The Sonnar is the 50yr old design, which has character (swirly bokeh, transitions etc), but is pin sharp in the center and when stopped down. The Planar is the much more perfect lens and is sharp across the frame wide open. The Sonnar is 40% more expensive than the Planar. They are for different purposes with the Sonnar for artistic shots and the Planar for landscape and architecture. One would use the appropriate lens in the appropriate situation.

The FE prime lenses so far are virtually perfect lenses and such lenses are very very rare. Not common like some people imply. They exceed the ability of many of the most expensive "perfect" lenses from Leica and their own Zeiss ZM counterparts including the 50mm Planar. The only lens that clearly exceeds the FE lenses and not by much is the Otus. The fact that they cost only around USD1K is truly extraordinary. One of their key attributes is that they can resolve every pixel of the 36MP sensor on the A7r. Almost no other lens can except for a few extraordinarily expensive Leica lenses and perhaps some Nikon glass. If you are using the A7 or some 16MP full frame sensor then no issue with most of the stuff out there. All the Minolta, Pentax, Contax, Canon stuff works fine and you won't notice the difference. But if you use the A7r, you will see the difference.

Some from the Pentax K135/2.5

For a mere SGD 300+, depending on condition, this lens is super on FF. When I first used it on my 5D, it remained my favorite. Love the rendering of these photos.

That's what I normally do when I have time I walk around to de-stress and shoot some candid :-). Specially if I started to get annoyed in the office (some of my officemates would conduct conf meeting in the office not in the meeting room and talk loud) :-( I would go out take a quick walk around the office an snap some pix

Both Pentax n Minolta lenses works awesomely on d A7/Rs.

yeah true bro... :-) any other lenses in the Canon FD/FL and Nikkor AIS that has the creamy bokeh like the rokkor 58 f1.2?

Yes, its certainly one of the very good 135mm out there to consider.

Pentax was the first Japanese SLR manufacturer, with many innovations to the SLR and lenses (eg. pentaprism; spotmeter; super multi coat)
So for old slr lenses of that 1960-late 1970's period, they are well worth a look.

The K135 is the same optical formula as the S.Takumar 135/2.5 (v2)

Yeah.
prices have gone up for lots of stuff over the years with the coming of mirrorless cameras.

IMHO, just my personal preference. Canon FD/FL and Nikkor AiS might only win on the sharpness space. Color rendering, Contrast & certianly in Bokeh wise, cant touch the MC Rokkor 58/1.2. Go google around in Fred Miranda forums and U can do the judgement yourself.
