Don't have the CZ 50mm 1.4 to compare, but if just based on reviews, it should be sharper or similar... very close to the Zeiss Otus F1.4 which cost about 4 times the price.

35FE is already very sharp, and 55FE is even sharper:

I know its aharp, but can it slice the CZ 50mm 1.4 or not ? haha , i need that comparison first =D

Check out Bro Intosite's display, which is the classic and lower contrast IQ of Sonnar 50/1.5. Your Jupiter should be similar?

I posted some shots previously in the thread,

could be user problem also haha, i find it harder to focus on the Jupiter, using a dman cheapo adapter

wrong.. one for chio-ness, one for AF :bsmilie:

thats for Thoth..not me. :D

hahaha i did buy the cv50 1.5 for the chio-ness of chrome silver. 55 FE for AF on kids and candids

U R the winner bro... bro Errz and me cannot match u... :bsmilie:

Heard that the Chrome CV50/1.5 is "brighter" than F1.5 CV50 Black version..... so you can shoot faster....:)

hahaha... brass chrome makes a heavier lens. helps with the "shutter shock" problem everyone has been talking about! immune to it with this chio lens :p

but seriously speaking, using the grip and also heavier lens (sigma 85 1.4 plus adaptor), i find i can shoot quite reliability at speeds of 1/100 and slightly less vs 2x or 3x the focal length that people have been talking about.

it's really chio. got to agree 100% on that. lucky no more CV close up adapter...cant imagine what will happen if i have both them on the camera.

Your photos from the Jupiter seems pretty sharp to me.

I think why you feel it's not "sharp" is cause of the different rendition of contrast and colors.

The sonnar design is some what sharp yet soft. Makes it more pleasing. Doesn't have that over contrasty and over sharpened rendition that makes most photos look so digital. If you're looking for pixel sharpness, the sonnar design is not one to go after, even if it's the $1600 Zeiss ZM version, the look will be similar . But I find that it has one more the best color and OOF renditions, dreamy smooth some what muted.

I don't like the Planars, they are too contrasty and "sharp". It's a good/great lens, but different character which I'm not interested in.

Value wise, the Jupiter is hard to beat.

A7 with 280mm f/2.8 APO-Telyt-R and APO-Extender-R 1.4X . . .

I find it excellently sharp on the a7 wide open. Not too bad still quite sharp with the a7r but not as per pixel sharp as a7.

I compared with a few other lenses, and it is just acceptable. Only when stepped down then it is sharp. Maybe it is just my lens.

Looks a little oversharpened, but that's just the way the light fell. That piece of glass doesn't need much PP'ing… ;p

It's the lens bro very sharp :-) as usually your combo is like a samurai
