Sony A7 II

If you can live without AF, use legacy lenses on MF for good photos on a budget. The IBIS works great.

i've been using the 16-50mm 2.8 with the LAEA4 adapter and after 3 weeks of trying it, i can never get a very sharp image. is this the result of adapting lens? what am i not doing right here? would appreciate some advice guys. thank you!

images are about iso 2500, 1/125-1/250. f2.8

It might due to the crop mode as 16-50 is a crop lens. You lose resolution, hence you get the "not sharp" feeling. Your subject is sharp (assuming your focus is where I think it is).

Like I told you before, unless you spend more on FF lens (in this case, f2.8 zoom), you will not get the low light ability you had with your previous f2.8 zoom. Changing system is not a simple (cheap) thing.

thanks alot for the advise bro. would getting a FE lens with zoom (not the f2.8) yield much better results even though the apeture is not a constant? for example just a kit lens?

well depends on what you meant by result. The obvious change will be the resolution of your photos, as you will fully ultilize the whole sensor. The next few things require some understandings...

Lets take your concert photos as example.
Shutter speed: 1/125
Aperture: f2.8
ISO: 2500

And now, your case
FF kit (f3.5-f5.6) vs Crop f2.8

You are missing 1 stop (light) at wide end and 2 stops (light) at tele end. You will need to slow down your SS or push your ISO. It means blurry or noisy photo,
but of course it's down to situation (movement of musician or shaky hands).

I won't go into too deep into depth of field because it will only make you more confused, so lets stick to the basic first. You need to stop down aperture more to gain more things in focus (in FF compared to crop), so again it means slower SS and higher ISO, so you get what I mean...

You can get the kit for the full use of sensor and conviniece of zoom. But dont expect low light performance. The iq of kit is only as good as its 2nd hand price if you know what I mean haha... From the way I see your situation, get a prime (FE28F2) and learn how to shoot with it. With 14mm, 28mm and 50mm, you should be able to handle most of situation, unless you need longer reach for concert shots (that's another spending for another time).

yes. it's a matter of compromising the lack of f stops and compensating it with higher ISO or slower shutter speed. we can't have the best of both worlds (on a budget) :dunno:

as a general rule of thumb, if i get a E mount APSC lens, will the resolution be impacted as well since the sensor is cropping the image? or resolution is only impacted because it's an A to and E mount?

It applies to ALL apsc lenses

Been tempted to get a brand new Sony A7 II from Malaysia that costs between $1450 to $1500, apparently they come with Sg or Malaysia warranty. How much is the pricing now in Sg? Don't mind getting a set since I go JB 3 times a month.

Lazada MY is even cheaper http://www.lazada.com.my/sony-alpha...-only-with-sonymalaysia-warranty-5770535.html

Singapore price is $1,949 during this period. Malaysia is 25% cheaper?

Hi guys,

I am a nikon user and is in the process of switching to sony. Was considering either a sony a7(within budget) or a sony a7ii.

Which adapter you guys would advise if i would like to use autofocus on the sony. did some research but would appreciate your expertise on this.

1) Commlite Nikon F to Sony E Autofocus Electronic Lens Adapter
2) Vello Nikon F to Sony E Autofocus Lens Adapter v4
3) Fotodiox FUSION Nikon G to Sony E Smart AF Adapter
4) Sigma MC-11
5) Others

Understand that the A7(Gen 1) face problems with the smart adapters?

Thank you

Sorry, I guess for your best option now is MF your nikon lens or just stick to nikon as the fotodiox Fusion adapters kill cameras! Don't believe just ask jason lanier on youtube but he redo a video on that adaptor I still not convince it is end product so...... I am using MC-11 which adapts only canonmount sigma lens and Some canon lens on my A7II, handheld under 1/80 sec no problem since got IBIS hope that helps or maybe you wanna look into commlite nikon to sony adaptors I think commlite more stable after firmware upgrades
