Sony A7 II

Very tempted to purchase from jb... Been in the market for a new cam and the a7ii has caught my eye.

Only thing holding me back is unfamiliarity with the JB

Better to stay off JB if not familiar. Carrying wads of cash, bringing a big box of expensive gear. Easy target for muggers.

Just buy locally or tag along someone familiar.

I'm also not sure about the GST thing. Legally, supposed to declare and pay GST if >$400.

It's about that price in KL. Kit is RM5600 inclusive gst. But these shops dont offer GST refund. Those shops that do offer refund eg camworld sell at much higher prices such that the net price after discount is still higher than other shops.

Not v safe to travel to KL of late...
A7Rii is not a replacement of A7ii. And the price gap between A7ii and A7Rii is very wide already.
Hence don't think price will drop.

I checked with some shop at KL PJ, quoted Rm4663 with GsT 6% . Which shop have GST refund ?
I think the GST cost quite a lot.

the bigger chain stores like fotokem, camera world has gst refund but their pricing are much higher. So the nett amount u pay even after getting gst refund may be higher.

Not very sure about warranty but Malaysia just nearby. It's easy to send it in if there's issues.

if I am not wrong most service centers are based in KL....

Few hours bus ride if required... Better than sets from other countries where there's no practical alternative to get it repaired.

A7ii price still holds well, was expecting price drop 1-2 months back, based on A7 trend... but did not materialise. If i remember correctly, A7 first price drop ($200) was about 6 months after its launch. (Launched in nov '13, first rebate on may '14)

If can then wait next year, no hurry actually. Maybe A7sII also come out hahaha

Guys, maybe can consider A7 first la. Do we really need the 5 Axis Image stabilizer? Probably yes if u take a lot of video
