I am for one looking (at first) at Pentax, then after reading about Alpha 700, Alpha 550...also get quite excited...... :lovegrin:.... think lenses and body prices are generally more "attractive"???... tell me if I am wrong.......... the Canikon simply too ex for poor fella like me.... that's why got to look for "cheap & good" alternative.... :sweat:.... just not too sure about Alpha cause not really familiar with the system yet..... like how is the ISO performance... which model is close rival to D300S and 7D??? What are the "good" equivalent lens in Alpha for 35mm, 85mm blah blah blah..............

You can try calling up the Sony Style Shops, they are selling their display set (those in the cabinets, not those demo sets) at $799 with kit lens.

Not all branches have it as some have sold them.

Late to this thread, but want to add, my a700 has been an absolute workhorse, nothing major, but just a nice all round camera to use and enjoy. Just have the 16-80 Zeiss lens for it, but a one lens camera is just fine by me. I'll see if I can dig out some shots to display.
