Sonnar and Sonnar-type fan page :)

hi, is yours a contax mount? looks like you shot on a digital M, may I know which adapter you used?

Hello.
Yes my zeiss-opton is a contax lens. Taken on M9 with Amedeo's Contax-Leica adapter. Brilliant build I can say.

Took my sonnar out for some fresh air after the rain this morning :)

"As the owner of the trademark "Sonnar" uses the term for a whole series of lenses, including some pretty clear Gaussian types like the ZM 2.0/85 for the Zeiss-Ikon RF camera, it's hard to define what makes a Sonnar in a clear optical sense. With regards to design history a Sonnar-type is a triplet derivated, high speed objective consisting of a small number of optical groups (preferable two) and at least one cemented group of three elements." Source:History of fast 35mm and small format film lenses

Having said that, a quick check on the Topcor lens configuration shows that it looks more like a Summar-clone So I stand corrected.

"It is just a lens, stupid!" (Oops, I can hear my xi-fu scolding me liao.:sweatsm:)

thanks for sharing. i like look of your photos very noir....

one photo troubles me though, the picture of the lady with the book flipped open.
there appears to be either fog or flare on the right side of the photo ? do you see others like it ?

That is flare i think. I would not be surprised -- even the most flare resistant lens would have problems in adverse lighting like in a restaurant, with the light source very close to the camera and oblique to it. This is the only one in the latest set.

Interesting observation about the noir look. I believe that you need to get the exposure of the main subject spot on -- else everything can fall apart.
