I don't seem to be able to see my new webspace when I go to http://azure.clubsnap.org/gallery/. I only see the "old" (pre-upgraded servers) version. That's even though I've uploaded files into the "new" one via the webshell.

Darren/Admins - any advice please?

Thanks in advance. :)

I don't see any problem with your web account setup.

The only problem, i see is you have uploaded your files in the wrong "Folder". The correct path that you should upload your files is in azure.clubsnap.org and not the gallery folder of azure.clubsnap.org/gallery

Okie... another dumb qn - then how do I view the updated gallery?

I still see only the old (8/8/03) pix only...

Sorry, i don't really understand your question.

Did you upload your Photos using the Gallery Upload, or did you Ftp or upload the photos using the Webshell utility?

The Gallery photos are only viewable if you upload it directly using the Galley build-in upload function.

If you upload your photos using the FTP or Webshell, you will not be able to view them in the Gallery, but you are still able to view them in the “Directory” “URL” you upload the photos to, example: http://azure.clubsnap.org/Scenery/cs501.jpg

You can still view your files online by using http://azure.clubsnap.org/Abstracts/

But the above files in the directory is name WRONGLY

Most of your Photos File name is “NAME” wrongly, in order for the photos to display correctly, you have to understand that there are some characters that can’t be use, example: &, / etc.

My advise is to upload your Photos using the Gallery upload functions.

Okie. Would like to, but it keeps telling me my password/userid is invalid. Ever since the server migration hiccup. And I've never gotten it back.
So I couldn't change it or use the upload...

are u saying that photos can only be uploaded using gallery upload for it ot be displayed in the gallery? what if i got like 50 photos to ul at atime? to do 1 by 1 or 5 by 5 (can't remmeber the amt for mass uploads) is kind tedious. i thot thats what FTP was for - mass upload easily and can just set and forget.

any advice?

Gallery is only one way of displaying images, and depending on how you want to use your webspace, you can select a variety of methods.

#1: For hot-linking to a thread/post in ClubSNAP
Use Webshell or any FTP application to upload images (1 or many) into a folder inside your webspace eg member.clubsnap.org/photos. The image will have a direct URL link - http: //member.clubsnap.org/photos/image1.jpg. This is like "dumping" all your files into a folder that you can access anywhere.

#2: Using Gallery
Use the Gallery when you want to create Albums or group together various images (without coding your own html page). Gallery provides you with captions, and other information like EXIF data automatically. There are several ways to upload images into Gallery
a) using the http interface as below (up to 10 at a time) -
gallery-upload.jpg

b) uploading all the files into a folder on your webspace (eg member.clubsnap.org/temp) then pointing the Upload Files command to get from that directory (lower portion of the dialog box). Downside is that the space used will be double as your images will be stored twice (once in the /temp dir and another in the /gallery dir)

c) Gallery Remote - this is a Java-based app that resides on your computer and is a direct interface to your Gallery. I have not personally tried this, thus if anyone can feedback, it would be great.

Hmm i see....as for the second way (ie uploading to /temp and then pointing the gallery there), does it mean that the gallery picutres are dependent on the /temp pictures? if after its uploaded, then i delete the /temp directory, will the gallery continue to show picutres that were grabbed from the /temp?

The Gallery software does not depend on the /temp dir as it will generate its own resized images and store them within the gallery dir. Thats why I specifically mentioned that you are using double the space required.

You can delete the images from /temp dir after importing into Gallery.

THis would mean that you are only using double the space required TEMPORARILY right...as in once the images are imported into Gallery, it wont be using double space anymore.

so for now, it would appear that the "best" way now for mass uploading would be to use FTP to queue the mass of files into the /temp directory, and then use the gallery software to upload it in, and then delete the stuff from the temp directory.

would appreciate if the mods can confirm that my analysis is correct.

tks! :)
