Some suggestions about Clubsnap site

You guys have a really great site going here. Never does a day pass without my logging on to the site 3 or 4 times! But here are my two cents on certain features that have bothered me in the past...
1. The search: This sucks big time. Any word below 4 characterds long is rejected. Which means there is no way to search on terms like D60, D30, S45, 300 mm f/4, etc etc and etc... In short can hardly think of anything that passes muster. I believe this is a useless and oft frustrating feature that should just be done away with.
2. Jump to Forum: Would help if the "Jump to Forum" drop menu were present on the first page as well, just as any other similar site (like fredmiranda.com). Makes going into the forums (which is what we are here for anyway) much easier.

But anyway, thanks for this really wonderful site!

Thanks for the compliment - we hope that you are getting as much benefit from the site.

To answer your questions:-

#1: The indexing function takes up a hefty amount of CPU resources and the index table is already very big even with 4 characters indexed. Thus, to index with 3 characters will put a greater strain on our currently limited resources. However, we will investigate this further. In the meantime, using a wildcard char (*) partially solves the 3-char. min.

#2: Not sure which "first page" you are referring to - the portal (www.clubsnap.org) or the forum (forum.clubsnap.org). Guess its the portal since having a "jump to" function on the Forum Main Index is kinda redundant. The portal is due for a redesign and we will take this into account.
