Hi,

I have just recently get an old Minolta SLR: Maxxum 5000 from a relative. The lens that comes with it is Minolta Maxxum AF ZOOM 35-70 1:4 (22) Macro Zoom.

I have some queries:
1) There is some fungus in the inner lens. Do you think it worth the money ($65) to do the cleaning at Sony Service Center?

2) Can the new lens for Sony Minolta be used on the old SLR?

3) Where can I get an Adapter for Nikon Lens to mount on the Minolta body (I am a nikon user).

Thanks, Regards.

1) depends whats worth for u, u can get a 28-75 f2.8 at about 600 which is 10x of the cost of cleaning. but u dun get fungus with it. and u get a faster and wider lens. but since its free, your cost of ownership is only 65 bucks

2) if its using A mount, then sure can use. only can't use those made for digital lenses.

3) i tried to order before, it cost about 150 without shipping yet from bh, and if your nikon lens does not have external aperture setting, like the 70-200vr, then its useless, cos the aperture is constant 2.8. and u will only be able to use MF. my intention previously is get the Nikon Tilt shift lens, just to let u know, and sadly, the 10.5mm DX fisheye can't use on any other system, sianz.

If you feel $65 is not worth it and decided to throw away the lens just pm me!
Maybe can let me try service for you, just a cup off kopi gao will do! ;)

Thanks for your response. All my Lens are for film camera, so I think it is OK to use the adapter. Do you still have the adapter around? and can I borrow it to play play? ;)
