I've said before LTM & M mount lenses cannot be mounted on DSLRs...

Well... I'm wrong. With the manufacturing factory of the world... seems like anything is possible....



For S$22, you can turn ALL your screw mount lenses to macro lenses on the Nikon & Canon DSLRs... and it's available now. M mount one coming soon....

Question though. What works and what doesn't? Metering? Aperture priority? And perhaps specifically for Nikons... would mounting these be similar to mounting AIS lenses? i.e. Will need the pro bodies to achieve metering.

Metering & AE on Canon no problem. But on Nikon... only D200 above... same as AiS lenses.

What's the portrait potential with this setup or the object distance is too close for that ?

mounting the RF lenses, which have shorter flange distance compared to the SLRs, would effectively be like mounting extension tubes to the lens, thus turning it into a macro lens. notwithstanding that... it's still good news to be able to play with some of the M and LTM mounts on the EF and F bodies.

Wow does it preserve infinity focus? I'm assuming not since because of the extended distance from film plane...

Oop. Too excited. Never read properly. So.. it has macro distance focusing capability, or it has macro distance focusing only?

Cactus jACK is right. Focusing distance has reduced from 0.7 to about 0.3 to 0.5m with this adapter. It's like putting an extension tube on the camera. I can't determine the magnification factor yet, but.... what the hack!

I will put up some decent test shots once I have the time to bring this out for a spin...

Interestingly.... the lower the focal length, the shorter the minimum focusing distance and the higher the magnification factor. I mount the 15mm on the D90, focusing distance is down to 1cm and fired off... And the camera went bonkers! It registered ERR and the mirror refused to come down. I had to mount another CPU coded Nikon lens to resuscitate the camera.

Minimum focusing distance for 50mm focal length is about 23cm. For 25mm is about 10cm.
